Cookie Thread!!!

IF I plan on drinking...?

You obviously don't know me too well, do you?

Well, I'm slowly starting to stock up, but you're welcome to BYOB.

The house is being scrubbed and I'm stocking up on cookie supplies... I should be gone right now, as a matter of fact.

I will get the cookies recipes in here sometime soon... maybe tonight if I'm not out driving around avoiding sex.

I'm not big on fruitcake but I saw this tonight and it has some promise.

Taste Like Fruitcake Cookies Recipe

1 1/4 cups yellow cake mix
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter flavored shortening, at room temperature
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup candied cherries
1/4 cup white raisins
1/4 cup chopped candied apricots or pineapples
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup chopped almonds
1/4 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, blend cake mix, brown sugar. Add to dry mixture, the shortening, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Fold in cherries, raisins, apricots or pineapples, walnuts, almonds, and pecans or your favorite nut. Blend mixture well. Drop cookie dough (dough should be sticky, doughy, not too wet), if too wet add a couple of spoonfuls of leftover cake mix to give it the right consistency) by spoonfuls, about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Tip: About 1 minute before cooking time is reached, pull cookies out of oven, they will continue to cook for about 1 minute on hot cookie sheet and begin to cool, creating their own cake like color. Cookies can be refrigerated and served at a later time, or put in the freezer. To freeze, wrap cookies tightly in freezer wrap, heavy-duty aluminum foil or plastic freezer-safe bags. Freeze up to 2 months. Bring to room temperature for approximately 45 minutes before serving.

I'm too lazy to type up the recipe, but...the other day I went to make Snickerdoodles from the Betty Crocker recipe and discovered (too late) that I was out of cream of tartar. So, I made the recipe without it and a little short on flour cuz I can't count. Anyway....the end result was way better than a normal snickerdoodle and I've actually been asked to make them again. It ended up like a sugar cookie rolled in cinnamon and sugar.

A Christmas Favorite of mine...

Christmas Tequila Cookies:

1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup (two sticks) butter
1 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups dried fruit (dried cranberries or raisins)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
2 cups all purpose flour
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila (silver or gold, as desired)

First, sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl. Check the Cuervo to be sure i t is of the highest
quality. Pour another 4 ounces in a measuring cup and drink. Turn on the
electric mixer. Beat one cup of the butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add
one teaspoon sugar. Beat again.

At this point, it is best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK. Try
another 4 ounces, just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break two
leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit, picking
the frigging fruit off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit
gets stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a screwdriver.

Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift 2 cups of salt or something.
Check the Jose Cuervo.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the
oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't
forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through t he window, finish the Cose Juervo and
make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

Cherry Mistmas.

Hey ABS!!! I vote for these to be made on our cookie day!

I'll be posting a lot of recipes in the next few hours, I'm assuming, by the number of pages Hersheys.com has.
