OK, I know Gracie probably isn't awake, since it's 1am here but I thought I'd turn on the Cookie Signal in the hopes of flagging someone down.
My insomnia is back.
After my trip to Auckland, I gave myself a three week vacation - lots of sleeping, no running or heavy exercise, all the bad food I wanted. I think, after so much stress, I really needed to crash for awhile.
But, yesterday I told my body the vacation was over, time to go back to being my usual, hyperactive self.
Sigh. So, here I am. Wide awake again. I wrote for several hours but now I'm winding down before I try to sleep.
Anyone up yet?

Well, Europe's up and working. Kinda.![]()
Are you lonely my featherless one?
Why don't you make some chamomile tea and try to sleep? (Just remember to check the kettle for ants first).

Rainy and cold at the moment. But I'm going to relocate myself to a warmer (hopefully!!) environment in a couple of days!! Not that I really miss those +40 celsius, humidity through the roof kind of temperatures from where I used to live, but I think +7 is kinda severe for June even in Finland.
Hooray! There used to be some Aussies and the occasional Kiwi to keep me entertained but I haven't spotted them for awhile.
How's life in Europe?
As I recall you were more interested in cupcakes, rather than cookies, when you were down here last.
Are you getting island isolation syndrome K up there in the warm Pacific?
I saw the cookie signal - where are the cookies?
There is a batch just coming out of the oven, damn they make the house smell nice.
Oh, I'm definitely a cupcake kinda gal. The Cookie Signal is for Lit's most infamous cookie monster, Gracie. I use it like the bat signal to summon her when I'm awake and need company - since her time zone is closer to mine than most.
As for island syndrome...oh my friend, you have no idea. Luckily I have a small support group. We meet weekly and vent. Usually alcohol is involved. I'll never spend two years in a row anywhere, ever again, especially not on a hunk of rock so far away from anything resembling real food.
If I see another tin of corned beef, I will snap. LOL.
Is it getting cold in NZ?
I had a mate that worked in the islands, he went troppo after a while, took about 4 years for him to get back some semblance of normality, part of the rehab was getting him back into society and living in a city! lol.
The boys did have fun though when we visited him.
Damn cold; snow, rain and cold southerly winds.
I saw the cookie signal - where are the cookies?
Snow? What is this thing called "snow"? LOL.
I can totally relate to your mate. You start to go bush after awhile. I went back to Canada for a visit in October and couldn't get used to how fast everything was. I went to the mall one day to buy socks and underwear and left after twenty minutes. Just...overload. So much selection. Overwhelming.
I have to laugh when people come here and say, "Oh you're so lucky! I could live here forever." Uh huh. Suuuuuuurrrrre you could.
I'm going to miss my scooter though![]()
I got Oreos. Sorry, that's the best I can do.
Can I send out the cookie signal, please?
Waiting for a child to come home and have run out of interesting things to do in the meantime....

I should be sleeping because I have to work tomorrow, but I have that lovely "life change insomnia" thing going on these days...
And the children put the package of Oreos back in the pantry with only TWO Oreos in the whole thing.
Two.
Someone please explain the logic to me, because, personally, I think it's a bit cruel to get a girl's hopes up like that.
