Contemplative

This was written by someone very close to me. I was both impressed and a bit disturbed by it. For several reasons, I cannot discuss it with the author.
Hello, lrisheyes, and welcome to the poetry board. :)

So, if you cannot discuss it with the author, what is your intention? Are you looking for feedback on the poem? Did the author ask for it?

Thanks Lauren :)

The author isn't aware that I've read it, I inadvertantly came across it online (it's posted on a live journal) but were I to let on that I had read it, the author would almost certainly consider it an invasion of their privacy.

As I said, I was impressed by it and wanted to share it with others, perhaps gain some insight too.

Well, I thought it was a bit prosaic and with a Kerouackian stream-of-consciousness flow - which ultimately works well with the theme, but with a number of odd line-break choices. I don't know if there's much point in discussing the poem's merits here and now, if the poet doesn't know about it.

If you're just worried about the author, I wouldn't be. The piece reads as if he's got a little "Edgar Allan Poe vs. The Imp Of The Perverse" thing going on, or a "Bret Easton Ellis vs. Patrick Bateman in Lunar Park" overdose. ;)

That being said, I know you mean well, but it's against the rules of the board to post copyrighted material without the author's consent... :)

Thanks for your insight.

As for breaking any rules, there is no copyright.
