I asked for tech support, but I'm waiting for an answer. In a nutshell:

1, I sent a message through his profile's contact page - a private message, correct? He didn't get it yet. Where do those show up? (This was about twelve hours ago.)

2, I tried to start a conversation through that option. I keep getting a message that says that I "can't start a conversation with so-and-so's username." Would he be blocked for some reason? Does he have to enable some feature?

I've never had problems with either method before, although I don't do it very often.

The first is usually called private feedback. Emails from Lit will frequently end up in a person's spam box until they mark one from that particular email address as "not spam".

As for the second, that person likely needs to go to their settings page and enable private messaging.

Feedback is screened like comments which is why you'll see more than one at a time come through, but how long it takes no one is sure, but if you did this yesterday things are a lot slower on the weekend

Yeah, I use Google for my email and I've marked messages from Lit Feedback as "Not Spam" Like seven or eight times. It usually will work for a month or so, then when I don't get and feedback for a while, it will go back to thinking it as Spam. It could be in their spam box, I've taken to checking mine on the regular, just in case. (Plus there is real spam going there and some of them are pretty funny. One keeps saying it's "From the dating service you signed up for" not even venturing to say what service it is, just simply the one I signed up for, as if that's how that works. Another tells me that the message was sent from a "Trusted Source".)

But I don't think I've ever gotten a private message through the forums, maybe nobody has tried, maybe that option is turned off by default? If that was what you were talking about?

Okay! LC just proved it was the "nobody has tried" option in my reply. Thanks Lovecraft, I'll be crying over here now knowing that nobody likes me. So maybe it's not off by Default.

Yes, I see that the first option is called "feedback;" so that arrives on the person's email account? There is an option on the home page to enable anonymous feedback, and another to turn all feedback on or off. (It would be nice if they could combine the home page with the profile page as one entity for each person but, whatever . . .

The second is called "conversations." Those show up in the blue task bar at the top. I don't think those are defined as "feedback," but I could be wrong. In any case, the message I get is that I "may not contact" him in a conversation - as if was blocked, but there may be some other reason.

Messages sent from a person's story side profile feedback option are delivered to the email address they have registered. As others have said, there's a delay, so they don't arrive immediately. They also can end up in the spam box, as I mentioned.

Private messages ( or conversations as they're now called ) are sent from the forum. Odds are that the person you're trying to contact needs to edit the "Start conversations with you" option on this page:

https://forum.literotica.com/account/privacy

There are three options, and only the first ( "Members only" ) means you can receive private messages from anybody. The second requires following each other, and the third blocks all incoming private messages.

You may want to check your own settings as well. I'm not sure if setting it to "nobody" will also prevent you from sending messages, as well as blocking messages from other people. I consider this doubtful, because modern forum software usually removes the links to send private messages if you aren't allowed to. Modern software also allows admins to disable private messaging for members, but I consider this unlikely as well.

Thank you; I'm going to check with this person and confirm what how he is doing. By the way, I did check my own settings.

How did you even get to that page? Because I was only able to find it through your link. When I clicked "Preferences" through my profile, those bottom options weren't there.

Or get discovered by the person's spouse.
