Consistent Creativity

I'm not a terribly productive writer here, but I'd recommend getting as much of the plot down as you can. You can always rework and embellish something, but you can't do shit to nothing.

So work out the plot, write it down, then go over it (and over it) adding descriptions and your special sauce each time until it's either a timeless work of art, or the contest deadline is in 2 minutes, so "ready or not".

Does anyone here have a process or method to stay motivated and inspired? Or perhaps do you not stress about it, and just simply let it come and go as it pleases?
Do you want to treat it as a serious thing, or something that you do casually?

If you want to make it a serious practice, you don't rely on motivation, you practice discipline. You make yourself do it even if you aren't necessarily feeling it. Like I'm not often motivated to go to work, but I go because if I don't, I don't get paid.

If it's just a hobby for you, you can allow yourself to work when you are motivated. Your output will likely be less, and more sporadic as your interest waxes and wanes.
