I hate to query such sublime logic as yours... but if no-one wishes to be one, how can the usual suspects be the usual suspects: it implies regularity and massed numbers... Surely in this case, your conservatives are the usual suspects, and the liberals are thus the unusual suspects... if there is cause for the use of the word "suspect" at all, which I'm inclined to doubt.

Rather than an ideological divide, I see these polling numbers as evidence that the Right Wing Spin Machine is succeeding in its goal to dumb down America. Why anyone would want to brag about that is a mystery to me.
I suggest, when the history books are written many years from now, the era we are currently living in will be called the "Age of Unenlightenment". Examples of the stupidity of our culture will include the wars in the Middle East, the Bush Crash, the recent mining disaster, the BP mess, and the grandaddy of them all, Fox News featuring Sarah Palin.

You're right in the sense that the only people who denigrate liberals are assclowns and nuerotics. On the issue of disability checks, I would venture to guess that at least half the people collecting disability are Tea Partiers, especially if their disability is mental retardation.

How do you go about discerning the political philosophy of a bird, JBJ? Do you have lemmings hanging around your garden, pooping on your plants? I would think that would make them conservatives, not liberals, since conservatives have no qualms about polluting where they live and grow their food.

James, you have to remember a couple of things.
Polls are always loaded. They ask questions that lead to certain goals or determinations. With the right questions you can make a conservative look like a liberal and vice versa.
Politicians are in it only for themselves and not for the general population. The only thing they care about is getting elected again and again and again. They will lie, cheat and change sides as the needs dictate to feed at what is commonly called the Public Trough. All they want is the money and power that comes from being in office.
Liberal and Conservative are convenient pigeonholes the poiticians and the press have created for people. No one is purely Liberal or purely Conservative.
If you look at the parties they are both closer to centralist than anything else, it is only the minority extremeists that aren't and they are so extreme they make their parties look foolish.

What we really need is a citizens initiative to have one week of open season on all pols once each year. If you bag one, carry him to the county courthouse for a cash bounty. We could buy tickets to play, which would swell the public treasury from rags to riches.

Okay, so my knowledge of small rodents and birds is not as expansive as my knowledge of microphones. I spend more time with microphones than small rodents and birds.
Liberal Lemmings, does have a lot better imagery than Usual Suspects.
I'm still not buying the lemmings tag for liberals. When you look at the political landscape today, can you find anything on the Left that compares to Rush Limbaugh's legion of ditto-heads? Or the gullibility of those on the right to accept false information as the gospel truth? Like for example, Saddam's culpability in the 9/11 attack?
Really? When I hear the term "staring uncomprehendingly at the world" the first politician that comes to mind (after GWB) is Sarah Palin.

it's so called 'cultural conservatives' who are getting numerous, and they don't care about the size of gov't or liberties, but about gay marriage and decline of family values, etc.
it might be noted that Dems can pick up these traditional themes as needed, as witness Bill Clinton, Bill Richardson, Jim Webb, etc.
