On passing 60 days smoke-free.

Way to go. So proud of you.

Many mangoes heading your way.

Nice

"not because it is easy but because it is hard"

Now you can be on one of those motivational posters.

Thanks, y'all. The counter is a little off... I've slipped a tad now and then, but overall, I'm basically a non-smoker who "steams" a little bit when things get stressful and I'm around a smoker who is foolish enough to give me one.

I do feel better, though - lots. My sinuses aren't nearly as cloggy, even though the pollen counts are high; I'm breathing more easily; and food tastes better, so I'm not using as much salt/sugar/spices to flavor it. All in all, a good decision, and one I should have made 48 years ago.

How's your blood pressure? K's always drops when he's quitting.

I actually haven't taken it since I quit, lol! I have the cuff set to fit mom's skinny little arm, since I'm taking her BP three or four times a week, and it's a pita to re-set the cuff from her size to mine. I probably should, but ... as I've said elsewhere, I'm lazy.

LOL I hear that.

That's very risky behavior. It's like an alcoholic stopping by the bar for two beers.

Yeah, I know. Funny thing, though, they've tasted quite nasty, and I haven't smoked them more than 1/2, 2/3 of the way. For someone who used to smoke 'em down to the edge of the filter, that's nawt tew baaaad.

Maybe it would be easier to buy a second cuff for your own use.

Congratulations on making it to 60 days with only a few steps back. That's much better than most people do.

I don't know if I've recommended it before or not, but the book Changing for Good by Prochaska, Norcross, and DiClemente is a fabulous resource for people who are making a massive life change such as quitting smoking or losing a lot of weight. This team did thousands of hours of study over several years to identify the stages that people go through in successful life change processes and show how to navigate those stages.

Yay, congrats! This is really awesome news, AND the worst is pretty much over now. :)

Keep on keeping on!!!! The first time I was around a lot of people smoking after I quit, I ended up with a sore thoat and a bad headache the next day. It was almost like a hangover. It took me longer than most to get over the cravings....more like a year. However, now I very very very rarely want to smoke. The cravings were more about associations I had made with smoking and once I made new ones, I didn't crave it so much.

If smokers quit long enough to notice the benefits of not smoking, such as some of those you mention, I think it gives them a second wind to continue.

Some don't remember or never knew how some things were before smoking. It's got to be a very nice feeling, after some difficult times.

I started smoking a pack a day or more when I was 11 - 48 years ago. I have NO memory of what food tasted like back then. at myself.

I know it tastes better than I *do* remember now, though. :D

Well done Sir Winston. That's quite an achievement. Are you past the cranky stage? That is always the worst for everyone else around you. Keep it up, you have our support. :nana::nana::nana:
