Confused about Volunteer Editors

Not sure if I mis-understand the volunteer editor program. I have a story that I would like to get some help on. Have requested assistance from six different editors, and have heard nothing back. I did not send the story, just requested they get back to me if they have the time. This story is not too far out there, so I don't think it is a content issue.

Should I keep trying, or just give up, and keep going with assistance?

Anybody else have this problem?

I didn't have a lot of luck with the volunteer editor thing here. Why don't you ask for an editor here on the board and tell what type of story and how long it is.

Datadr...

I'm in the same boat. I have several stories I wrote a couple years ago that I'm basically editting/re-writing/cleaning up because after I read them again I saw they needed alot of work. So after cleaning up the smallest story I thought I'd try the Volunteer Editors before posting it.

I've only tried one, and it took a week to get a response. And the response was basically, yes I got it and I'll review it, look for the response in about a week. The week isn't quite up yet, so I'm still waiting.

For the next story I think I will take Couture's route and post a new threat here asking for people to read it and edit it. The bonus with this approach is that you have more than one person review it.

If you don't get a response from a volunteer editor request in a week, send the name and e-mail address to Laurel at info@literotica.com.

There are a lot of editors that use something other than their primary e-mail address in their listing, and only check it once a week or so.

Laurel is constantly trying to stay on top of those editors who drop out of the progrm without removing their listings. Your help in reporting those who don't respond is diefinitely needed.

There is no rules that says you must work with just one editor. When I have a story ready for outside editing, I usually select twelve names at random from the list and send editing requests. I keep trying until I find at least three, and preferably six, editors with the time to take the story on.

Welp...

I'm still waiting for a response from the first editor I sent my first story to. After waiting 4 days, I got an initial response saying they would review it and get back to me before the end of the week. That was 5 days ago.

I guess I'll try Weird Harold's approach and just send the same story off to a ton of editors and hope to get at least one response back.

Kinda disheartening since I read through all of the blurps each editor gave and chose the one I liked based on those. Anyway...

Is it bad form to send it to a bunch of editors in one single email (i.e., all of their email addresses listed in the To: field)? LOL

I use Blind Carbon Copy (BCC:) for ALL mass mailings unless there is an understanding that the e-mail addresses are needed by the entire group I'm coresponding with.
