I have just spent over three flipping hours trying to get avatars, found some great ones, and could not believe it when it couldn't open it up. I didn't even get close to figuring out how to upload on lit, I can't even get it to my computer,,,,,,,, sheesh, God give me some brains.

Or now you can upload to Lit instead of finding a host that will let you link.

Right click on the image you wish to 'borrow' and click "save as"

Follow the steps to get you to Avatar, click yes for custom avatar then browse your computer for where you saved your image and upload. Does have a size limit and you may have to have someone downsize your pic to fit but its a lot easier than it used to be.

On a windows based sytem with Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer:

Right click the picture you want to use as an avatar, click "save picture as" from the menu that comes up.

Open the picture and make sure that it is smaller than 150 pixels in its longest dimension. Resize it as necessary and save.

Check the file size. It must be smaller than 20Kb to use as an avatar. Reduce the color depth, increase the compression factor, or resize as necessary to bring the file size under 20Kb (20Kb = 20480 bytes) Don't confuse "image size" with file size. A 20Kb picture can be as much as 400Kb in memory when uncompressed and displayed.

Go to your User CP, and select Edit Options. The very last item, at the bottom of the page, is Avatar. Select "Custom Avatar" and use the "browse button" to find the file on your hard drive.

Click "Submit Changes" and you have an avatar.

That, Lav, is the way to do it for a sig line....... and how we had to do it before the new board....

Now you can directly upload them to your sidebar w/o having to use an address...

Lavey is right about getting it saved to your computer..

right click your mouse, Save as...... put it in a file you are familiar with and can easily get to, like My Pictures, in your My Documents file..

Now you are ready to upload.....

Go to Control Panel at the top of the lit screen, while you are logged in....

Then you need to go to Edit Options.

There is a list of commands, and at the very bottom one says Use Avatar...

This is where it gets cloudy.....
If the browser window is on there..... then hit browse and you can go to your harddrive files to retrieve your icon.....
Once you've picked it out.... Click Submit modifications.... and if it isn't too big, then you are good to go.....

If the browser window isn't there, but it says Use an avatarCheck yes....

Then click Sumbit modifications......

A screen will come up. And that is where you retrive your icon from.....

I am sure this is all clear as mud....
