Condom Question / Recommendations

Hello ---

At the age of 40, I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this "what", vs "how" question.

My DH is finally opening up to some new sexual ideas (for him) and I find myself needing to purchase condoms for the first time in my life. I went to the store and was overwhelmed by the selection.

I don't need spermicide nor does lubed/unlubed matter. In my teen years I remember my bf complaining that they were like rubber coats so something that gives a better sensation would be great.

Any suggestions on brands / type would be greatly appreciated.

personally, I really prefer the lifestyles brand ones. They make an ultrasensitive condom that's somewhat thinner than the regular ones, but honestly the regular ones arent that bad. I tend to stay away from ribbed or studded since they make sex really uncomfortable for me (not true for everyone). I'm not a fan of trojans either.

As far as cost though, most everywhere I've been to, the lifestyles ones are cheaper than the others (go to walmart for them too.... their cheaper in general there).

I like the ribbed ones. I recomend trying a few different kinds. The first time I bought condoms I bought one of the boxes that had like three different kinds.

The Durex Avanti are the absolute best. Super thin polyurethane, almost like nothin' at all.

Get the ones with they built in vibrator...

try the ultra thing lubricated kind... if it has spermicide in it that also makes ti a bit easier to put on.

Also try the different brand.. because ellasticity and utility dimentions do vary slightly.

If you get the ultra thins.. they strech a bit better than the thick regular ones.. and provide some extra sensation to your partner.

How do i know... i have shopped around a little just to try and find a fit since im right in between the regular and larger varieties sizes.... regulars are slightly too small and the extra large ones too large.

Thank you everyone! After reading your replies, I think I'll buy a few of the ultrathin lubed kind of different brands (the type that come 3 to a box) and see which he prefers. After all, he's the one that has to wear them (his choice). {shrug}

Noone... but years ago when i tried on a condom it was somewhat uncomforotable.. and these days the normal ones are even more so...

ergo due to my neurotic nature and the philosophy of "its better to be prepared than sorry for not being prepared."
I have gone out and bought a bunch and tried em on...

I figured that if at some point in a distant future i might meet some curently nonexistan woman (in regards to my locality)
at the very least i should know about the things that will come about as an eventuality of intercourse.

But as thus far no women have wondered my way.

In my experience the thinner they are, the better they feel for both the man and woman. However I have noticed that Trojans leave a really horrid taste to the areas they touch. This really sucks because my partner liked to suck the last remaining cum out of me after I pulled out of her and it tasted awful. As well when I tried to go down on her after we were done, I just coulden't because the taste and smell were just attrocious. Lifestyles tasted better, however they were more lubed as well as less sensitive so I found myself slipping out more often than before.

Summery, Trojans are more enjoyable and you don't slip out, but they leave a rancid aftertaste

Me and my partner havent seen any real difference between different condomns...weve tried 3 or 4 different kinds. sex without condoms is alot better but very BAD. Trojins do leave one hell of a horrible taste. i attempted to perform oral sex on her a few hours laterand almost threw up. im kind of afraid to do it now even if we havent had sex. She has done the same thing with me but she doesnt seem hesitant to give me head.
