Yesterday my girl and I used a lube for the first time. However, after our sex was done we found out that the rubber was broken. Is this normal when using a lube? We've never had a condom break before, but sex with lube was awesome though;D

Condoms sometimes break. Oil based lubricants (like vaseline, and maybe some of the massage stuff from your previous threads, etc) weaken latex condoms but the general advice is that water based stuff should be okay

You need to think about what you're gonna do now you've had unprotected sex re emergency contraception, STDs etc. You need to discuss this ASAP with your missus, because the morning after pill can be used up to 72 hours after intercourse.

In fact, if you're going to be having sex it's useful to have discussed plan B before you start eg accidental pregnancies, etc.

No, it's not normal for latex condoms to break when they're used properly with either water-based or silicone lube. Polyurethane condoms can be used with oil-based lubes, but it's generally a good idea to keep those lubes out of the vagina.

What kind of lube were you using? Did the condom come into contact with oil at any point? Are you sure you put it on properly (e.g. not inside out, you pinched the tip with two fingers and your thumb before rolling it on, etc.)?

I agree that unless your gf is on hormonal bc or something, you'd better institute your backup plan right away.

I began talking to her about it afterwards and she said that she was on the pill, she also said that the last thing she wants is a kid, so I'm not worrying. I'm just glad it happened with this girl who's smart and not some dumb girl.

I was always told that its better to use lube (as long as its the proper kind, water or silicone based) with a condom because it makes it less likely to break. oil based lubes will degrade the latex though.

I haven't tried this thing named lube but heard of it that people can enjoy more with lube. but if you think about risk then you better use condom instead of lube because condom makes you 99% secured always.

Condoms aren't 99% effective against pregnancy or STIs with normal use.

For penetrative sex, the best thing to do is use condoms and lube together, not just one or the other. You put a couple of drops of condom-safe lube in the tip of the condom before pinching it and rolling it on, then lube the outside of the condom to reduce the risk of irritation, slippage and breakage. The tiny amount of lube in the tip will increase sensation for the man, and the lube on the outside may increase pleasure for the receiver.

In all my sexual encounters, I've only had two condoms break... And one of those times was also the only time I've ever used a lubricant during sex.

Yes, the condom was put on properly. And yes, it was a condom-safe, water-based lubricant (KY Liquid).

Just a coincidence? Perhaps.

But I've never bought another Trojan condom since then!!

Condoms like everything else made by man are not perfect or perfect 100% of the time.

In addition they are affected by Chemicals, time, heat, light ... and the manufacturing process.

Remember the chemicals making up the condom may not be up to par to start with or some employee of the company might not give a damn on any certain day.

Like everything in life they are a gamble.
