The electoral process is still at work and votes are still being counted, but I am curious as to whether you think Trump’s concession - should he lose to Biden - will happen by ‘Tweet’, or if he’ll concede defeat in front of cameras and the media.

Or perhaps you think he will refuse to concede, squawk ‘Fraud!’ and ‘Fake Election!’, and try to have the Supreme Court he loaded rule him into power.

this, though i think it might depend on just how many of the outstanding states biden might win. if he wins most, or even all? perhaps trump will concede but ungraciously, though not trying to take it to the scotus. if it's closer, i'd lay odds on him squealing all the way to the scotus and it was a big part of his pathway and why he needed a.c.b inserted so quickly.

In the unlikely event President Trump doesn't win re-election, his concession speech will be an Address to the Nation from the Oval Office.

He's already cried fraud and concession won't be an element of anything he says or tweets.

The Supreme Court does NOT hear original cases. That means Trump MUST file in the State of interest. He has nothing.

Why would he be in jail??

Getting leftist fee fees in a bunch isn't a crime yet.

Read some of those newspapers you were talking about. He won't be in trouble before he gets out of office but there will be plenty for him to recon with later form the SDNY even if he is able to pardon himself federally.

He is the most unmanly male (nothing macho about him) , he is too much of a brat to concede. The most dishonorable human being to set foot in the WH. His supporters must have to be stupid to look at him and think he is presidential material. Must be, nope, they are stupid and I'm tired of the media nudging Dems to reach these people.

Anyway, is he paying those lawyers upfront?

Conceding is something you do out of respect and an appreciation for our tradition of putting the campaign behind us once it's over. And for a defeated incumbent, to pay homage to the idea that the people are the ultimate judges.

But it's not constitutionally required or anything. Needless to say, I do not expect Trump to ever concede. I see this day as the first day of his inevitable 4-year "I Was Robbed" never-ending tour.

Lol....he isn't man enough to concede

Or apologize, or listen to those who know more than him....etc, etc, etc. We could look at the bright side of the last 4 years; given these character flaws, it’s actually surprising that he didn’t make bigger mistakes, and more of them. He has talents to push buttons, and has the kind of charisma to draw cult followers, but he had none of the important qualities for leadership. Oh well, “merely” a quarter of a million lives to a botched pandemic, complete loss of most key environmental safeguards, tanked the booming economy he was handed, blew up the national debt... And yet, I have full certainty he could have done much worse.

Wouldn't it be something if Trump tweeted a concession and Twitter blocked it as fake news?

None of the above. He'll run and hide in some bolt hole where he can't be extradited and leave Don jnr, Eric and Jared to face the charges. Ivanka will go with Daddy.

^^^^^ I guarantee you this is the story his fan club will settle on and always stick with forever after. In reality, though? There's no way he'll concede. Heck, we'll be lucky if he even leaves the White House without being forced to.

I doubt that Donald Trump will ever concede but it will be interesting what other senior Republicans might do. If say a couple more states are declared for Biden, I think that a bunch of GOP brass will want to put Trump behind them as fast as they can, because for them he will have gone past his use by date. They may say ok, we have the Senate we will use that as our base for the next few years.

The most potentially influential figure by far is George Bush; if Bush came out and said Trump should go(graciously as Al Gore conceded) I can see that would be a signal for all the other GOP rats to desert the Trump ship very quickly. Thee GOP could then claim to so statesmanlike as they proceed to run interference from the Senate for the next 4 years. :)

It's sort of useless to wait for Republicans to back away from Trump. He was well past his use-by date when he was impeached. Pence, as rancid as he is, was less of an anvil around their necks by that point. They aren't going to buck him until he is physically gone from politics--and maybe not even then if he can establish a media outlet. They'll hide under their desks.

I recall there are very limited instances where the Supreme Court can hear original cases. One that comes to mind is disputes involving ambassadors.

Perhaps Timmeh can tell us his opinion.
