Insights Training Center in Seattle, Washington is teaming with Groupon.com in offering a $145, 4-hour class for the discounted price of $69 that enables a citizen of Washington who already possesses that state's concealed carry permit to obtain a nonresident Utah Concealed Firearms Permit...

...thus, with both Washington and Utah permits, the armed citizen can then conceal carry in the following states which have reciprocal carry laws with Utah:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

So, koala bear...

...anyone in IN offering the Utah class yet?

And...

...does IN still offer their lifetime concealed carry permit for $100 or so?

(Can't remember if it was $100 or $125 when it first appeared 4 or 5 years ago...)

So the 17 states which do not participate would be:

California
Colorado
Connecticut
Hawaii
Illinois
Kansas
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
Oregon
Rhode Island
South Carolina

There will never be a national carry license. Certainly not one that's affordable.

I agree it wont happen but it should. It frankly makes no sense that we can somehow manage to have each state recognize all the other states drivers licenses but not their pistol permits. Just as an example of the stupidity I am attempting to get my permit in MA currently as a non resident since my lovely future bride wants to honeymoon there. My firearms quals are extensive I work in a job which requires me to shoot a law enforcment qualification yearly (no we are not sworn so HR218 has no effect on us) at my other job I teach basic firearms safety, handling and marksmanship, I have had approximately 64hrs of advanced firearms training in the last year and I am an armorer for seeral major brands. I called MA State Police and told them what I had their response was that I needed a basic handgun safety course that nothing else matters. The shear stupidity of having to jump through hoops to get permits for each vacation is insane. Make one permit, say $200 for 4 years make it a stipulation that they must qualify yearly and be done with it. If I was going to commit a damn crime I wouldn't have gotten a permit to start with. Making it so I don't have a weapon doesn't make anyone except the asshole who tries to hurt someone I care about or myself any safer.

Why not? I thought you of all people would be in favor of sensible (all around and on all fronts a good thing) gun policy?
