I've been looking at xhamster this morning and I think I picked up a virus. My screen froze and had a large text box appeared and a voice said something like " Your IP address is associated with a web site known for identity theft. Please do not log off or restart your computer. Any attempt to do so may result in data loss … "

I immediately did a cntrl + alt + delt and shut down. I came back online and everything seemed OK. I went back onto xhamster and the same thing happened again and I took the same action.

I have Norton anti-virus and ran a 'quick scan" and no dangers were detected. So, do you think I should be ok now ? I was wondering if I needed to take my computer to a pro and have them scan my computer.

If anything , I guess I should stay away from xhamster for a little while. Has anyone else had a problem with xhamster ?

Probably something to do with whatever link you were trying to view... run a virus check, run ccleaner or glary utilities software to clear out any junk files, and have a good day

I'm in the Mac world, however when I help people using Windows, I've great success with Spybot Search & Destroy. Depending how much is stored on your PC and how infected it is, I've seen it run relatively quick to having the time to write the great American novel. It could've been scareware or adware you were seeing. Post if this resolves the supposed problem or not.

Definitely run a thorough virus scan not just a quick one, and in addition to clearing out junk files specifically clear out the cookes - usually that takes care of it and is what's tagging you when you come back online.
