Whenever I try to download something from the internet- like a program (ex: Kazaa)- I'm not able to. The little Quicktime symbol comes up, and then shows up broken. Then it tells me that "Quicktime is missing some software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the Quicktime server".
However, if someone sends me via e-mail a download of the program, I can download it.

I used to have Kazaa, but then it stopped working on my comp, telling me that I had to download a newer version of it- that's when I realized that I was having problems- this was a few months ago.

Now, I'm really clueless about computers. I thought maybe it had to do with a firewall, so I did a search on my comp for a firewall. None.

Anyone know what the hell is wrong with my comp? :(

Well playing a movie or video clip in QT isn't the same as downloading a program, not really.

Have you tried updating your QT? If other downloads are going fine, I wouldn't worry too much.

I redownloaded quicktime, and i think i got the same message.
I can download images and songs, but not actual programs...

Is it that it will not download anything at all or is it that it will not open a program once you download it? If it is the latter check to make sure that quicktime is not somehow selected as the default program to open files. And u can check and see if you have the latest activex controls also http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ That is all I can come up with at the moment. Good luck. Later.

It won't even download it. When I click the "Download program" link or box, I get the little ripped Quicktime symbol.
