OK... i have a video (ok a sexually graphic video), (ok a sexually graphic video of me, alright already).... that i'm trying to be able to host/link. It's was downloaded from a phone and is sitting at the phones picture mail site waiting to be watched (which it will play there) but when i try to host it, the host saves it as an image. How do i host it or link it.

I know i could send it right from the site and it would play but it would also send the cell phone personal stuff too, name/number if came from, etc. and would leave a trail of where i'm sending it too (would like to protect others privacy too).

DISCLAIMER: i am NOT computer literate so please speak cavewoman!

I thank you in advance for your attention and any assistance that can be offered.

Have you tried yousendit.com or megaupload.com?

A friend used to send me sexually graphic video clips through yousendit and he never had a problem with it. It's also a fairly easy site to navigate as well.

You can try the following....

at the phone site, right click on it and click on properties. It should give a link. Copy and paste that link into an email and send it to yourself in email. Click on the link and make sure it works. (you might want to make sure your not logged into the email site when you test the link, so as to make sure others can click on the link and see it).

If that doesn't work....if its at a phone email site, have you tried emailing it to another email account? Like a yahoo, AOL or google email account? You might be able to work with it easier there than at this other site.

*Note you cannot download this to your local computer and have someone else then see it over the internet. The image or video needs to on the internet somewhere in order for others to view it or see it. So I am ssuming that your goal when you say "host is" you are referring to putting the video up on like some site account you own. If that is the case, you may have to first download it or save it to your local computer from the email site, then re-upload it to your other account online.

Good luck

~RJ

(ps: Just remember that once you publish something of yourself video or image, once it on the net, it will be forever public. So just becareful.)

Jeeez! i think it'd be easier to drive there and show em' or at least it would take me that long to figure it out as to drive there :D

Thanks for the info :rose:

Thanks for starting this thread because now I have a computer question.

My laptop is running slowish and I had a little message thing just now that said my "virtual memory" is getting low. (yea I've done all the usual maintance stuff.) I'm thinking it might be due to the iTunes that I have on here for my iPod. Can I take my iTunes off of here and put it on one of those memory stick thingys without losing all that stuff? And how about my Adobe pagemaker and photoshop? Can I do that with those too?

I'm leaving for a while but will check back on this thread when I get home again and thanks in advance to anyone who will help me out.

Getting low on virtual memory usually means that you are running too many programs at the same time, try closing the programs you aren't using at the moment and it should help a little.

Working with big images in photoshop will eat memory quickly, I don't know about iTunes or pagemaker.

Try restarting your PC. If it happens consistently, then you have to many programs that load automatically.

I could help you, but I'd need the link to that video on your cell phone site.

Hey Doll,
When your computer is running low on RAM Windows uses a chunk of hard disk space to simulate RAM. This chunk of space on the hard disk is called the virtual memory. The warning you received usually comes from having too many programs open at the same time. If you have shut down any unnecessary programs and you still get the message let me know and I will show you how to increase the size of your virtual memory. Ideally it should be 1.5 to 2 times the size of your RAM.

iTunes and Adobe products could certainly be part of the problem. They are configured to run at start up and can slow startup appreciably. You can however, disable them rather easily. Call me when you get back and we'll get it fixed.

Bah. I refuse to believe it... there's probably no video at all, in fact!
;)

Thank you for the advice and I'll try what you all have suggested but my other question still remains: can I remove iTunes, pagemaker and photoshop to a memory stick thingy and then plug it in to my laptop and use it like it's really ON this computer? Or do I have to reinstall it everytime I want to use that stuff?

Most often the answer to this is not you cannot do this, as programs like photoshop require a register entry when it is installed which means it needs to be on your hard dirve or a permanant slave drive.

To check to see if your drive is full click on the "My Computer Icon" and then right click on the C drive and choose "properties and it should tell you how much space you have free. If you have alot of space then chances are Saw_man is correct in that you may have had too many programs open at one time, or a huge file open in photoshop that took up all your ram memory usage.

If you don't much space left, you can first try deleting all your temporary internet files. People who don't do thia regualrly often can rack up gigs of internet residue. To do this, in your browser click on "tool" at the top and select "internet Options", then when the small window pops up, click delete temporary Internet files. If you have a lot of files it may take about 2-5 minutes. Once done recheck your available space on your harddirve to find out how much you freed up.

Ug...turn off computer. Ug...grab woman by hair and drag her to cave. Ug...tie woman's hands behind back, bend her over large rock in cave and fuck her ass. Ug. Now, no need for video. Problem solved. Did the cavewoman understand that language?

I know compouters but this is different than a computer problem. This is a cell phone video sent to a web site? I don't even own a cell phone, let alone one that records videos.

But, if it plays where it's at, it most likely has an extension that is unique to the cell phone program that's playing it. Windows computers know how to dieal with files because of the last three characters in the file name. These come after the period, of course. Sorry, I'm trying to talk cavewoman.

It's not always possible to see the last three characters, because be default, Windows has that option hidden on many versions. It's a stupid Gates thing. But, your computer might not have that video playing program installed, so it only sees the video as a picture.

If you can find out the extension of the video file, you might be able to find a program to play it on your computer. OR, there might be a conversion process you can find on that web site. OR, you might find something to help on yousendit.com or megaupload.com like HottieMama said. Just make sure you aren't allowing others to see this video when you use some online method to transfer it.

If this is some email thing from your phone, can you send it as an attachment to another email site? Send it to yourself, that way. But, keep in mind, depending on the format of this video, you might still need to convert it so your computer can play it, or install some program that undestands that format and play it. If you intend to put it somewhere on a web site, you are goint to need to make sure it's a format that others can play. From the way you talk, it sounds like it's not in such a format, right now.

Oh, sorry...I got out of speaking cavewoman there at the end. I hope you could understand. If not, other plans can be made. We'll negociate. Ug.

You could also use Winzip to zip up some program folders that you don't want to uninstall, but don't use that much. Then, you can just unzip them, if and when you want to use the program. You can also maybe zip up some of those graphics, but Jpegs won't zip up, because they are already pretty tight. Neither will mp3 files, if you have any of those sitting on your drive.

But, you can get some jump drives and put these files on one of those. That would free up some space, if that's your problem. Or, if your finances allow, you can get an external hard drive to dump some of this stuff to, giving your C drive and the virtual memory file some room to breathe.

But, if you have the space, it's like everybody is telling you...you've just got too many programs installed in memory for the amount of RAM you have. So, when you want to open up a file in Photoshop, there isn't much room for the file to spread out. The program will seem like it's clunking along, taking a long time changing views and the more layers you have, the worse it gets. I hate it when you work on an area and the actual change takes nearly 30 seconds to show up.

iTunes files

You can move iTunes files to an external hard drive or flash drive. I did this. My advise is to export through the iTunes pull down menu. If you do not you will have to play every file at the new location before iTunes will reconize the files. Believe me, this is a huge pain to do. It took me longer than uploading the music did originally. Just be sure to plug up the external storage unit before opening iTunes. Hope this is understandable; I am not great with computer instructing.
