The link can be found under the words "vB Code is ON" at the top of the reply form.

Any time you see something in someone's post you want to know how they did it, hit the quote icon at the bottom of that post. All of the formatting codes show up in the quoted text.

The colorful signature line, avatars, animations, and the like don't show up in the quoted text. the vB codes don't work in the signature lines anyway, you have to have some clue about coding in HTML to do anything fancy there.
