I hate it when it just happens to be me who mobs up after other peoples mistakes on a perfectly good and functional computer.
Especially if it means I have to blow out the harddrive and start from scratch.

Sorry..late night venting....

I'll go back to my corner now.

When Ravenloft gets back from his nookie, make him fix it. Even if you have to stand over him with a hammer and beat all thoughts of nookie out of his twitterpated skull.

Not his fault KM, nor Vals. Both Frat House members know how to take care of a puter, and treat it right.....its when other people who dont, stops by and need to "Check Email".

I guess I'll do it next week when I have better time.

Well that's different.

When someone comes over to check mail, stand over them until they're finished. Hover worridly. Demand that they not press any icons until they've cleared it with you, sensitive information you know. Ask them if they've ever been to whereever your chicky lives. And ask them at least five times if they saw her picture before they leave as suspiciously as possible.

Makes 'em not want to come back. :)

I'll try KM, But I do have to work so sometimes I aint around when they come over....I'll try though.

Hover over their shoulder with a sledgehammer hehehehehe

You might try bare ends of a lamp cord attached to the keyboard and have the plug end hidden as if it were plugged in............ I did that once, scared the crap out of my roomie............... they went out and got their own..........hehehe

That's the idea................ clue the roomies in, let the "others" have the heart attacks......................LOL

We'll just have to do that yes. hehehehehe

AFTER I've fixed this thing....you have no idea what kind of weird shit it's doing sometimes.....I guess its the price for corrupting and blowing out some of the major .sys files.

Try switching from.........................

That was four, but who's counting? :D

My next door neighbor has cable phone and modem, loses both every time it rains and costs as much as my DSL..............., T1 would work, if I could get it for less than $250.00 a month, which is what ma bell wants here in my part of this rock................

yeah T1 even T3 would be preferable over DSL or Cable.

However I'm gonna have a DSL line put into the Frat House, DSL is not known to stall out on you up here...Guess the cableling is better some places than others.

This brings back memories...

I used to let people use my machines. All I asked them was did they know what they were doing and accepted their "Yes" as the gospel truth...

Never again. Now nobody gets near my machine, even if they beg, which has been known to happen. Even if you're watching them closely, they seem to get all excited, start pressing keys at the speed of light and when the screen goes blank, or the computer freezes and you ask them, calmly, "Tell me what exactly did you do. No I'm not angry I just want to know so that I can backtrack if I can," the answer is always...

"Nothing".

Nowadays it's passwords everywhere...

:)

ps. also computers and kids don't mix. Many is the proud parent who's told me that their offspring are 'really, really good at computers, they always get top marks in their 4th grade class'.

5 minutes later "Mom or (Dad) somethings gone wrong with the computer!!!".

:)

I couldn't agree with you more!

My wife has a laptop............now broken.

My 7th grader HAD a laptop............now in my possesion, still broken. His grandparents bought him a new Gateway back in April, so mine is safe for now.

My 5 year old.................. ask me in 5 years, LOL !!!!!!!

Me? 3 desktops, two laptops............. all working, and NO! They aren't getting their grubby little mitts on them! And all the wife does is play solitaire on the pc nowadays anyway!

Well Demian, you got a couple of choices here. By far the most free and less costly method to do it is this.
Buy yourself a digital recorder....preferably an 8 track or better yet a 16 track.
Search the net for music editing tools for your computer....or you can buy them pretty cheap if you know the right people. get some MIDI cables and at least 5 Jack-cables...to hook up whatever instruments you have.
Invest in a CDR burner.
Record what you have and put it in your puter..track by track and edit it in there. make the sounds and effect the way you want it. And burn it onto a CD, then make copies of the same if you so chooses.
Oh you might wanna put in a midi card in your computer too. Not strickly nessercary but a very very good idea.
That way you will ahve your own recording studio and is able to make Pro studio sound...takes a little time and a lot of learning.

Or you can go out and pay for it all, and pay the saem amount of money for 10 CD's plus recordings, as 90 percent of the equipment will cost you.

If you do choose to go Pro studio with it, Make damn sure you know who is behind the buttons when you record, and make damn sure that he/she knows what they're doing.
Otherwise there is a great chance that you have wasted your money on a product that would be better on a analogue 8 track.

hehe i never said it was hard at all ... i had hard disk fail though last week so i was reduced to having only a small 3 gig hard disk ... glad i have lots of space again :)

Space is GOOD! Hope you made it a FAT 32 HD and used the old a a slave.

i doubt i could of made it a non FAT 32 being that its 40gigs :)

my sister works in computers shes an "expert" i guess ... i pick up stuff from her

LOL I hear you SGT...but you'd be surprised what people is able to do with a puter.....and make it all WRONG.

Sorry pet peeve of mine.
