Is there anyway I can take an individual slide from a power point presentation and set is as my desktop background? I'm using XP Home if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

you should be able to hit print screen, then paste that object into your photo editor. Crop the frame then save it so you know where to find it. Open it in your web browser and right click then select set as desktop background.

Right mouse click on the image, and then click on "Save As"...save it to your desktop.

Then, under Control Panel, Display, Desktop, Browse, (find the file on Desktop).....click on Apply.

I don't use PowerPoint, (too PHB for me...) but I'm pretty sure the file menu has an export function, which will let you save the currently active slide as a .bmp file. You can then set your desktop wallpaper by right clicking the desktop, selecting properties, then on the desktop tab, browsing for the file you just saved.
Essentially the same as what you said, but a different way to go about it.

I tried to do the suggestions, and I just couldn't figure out how to save it as a graphic so I could use it for the background. So, since the chart was what I mostly wanted, I just saved it and used it by itself. Thanks anyways for the suggestions. Appreciate it!

Saving a powerpoint slide as an image file

In powerpoint..

1. Open to the slide you are interested in.
2. Select File - Save As from the file menu along the top.
3. Use the dropdown box to change the Save as type to .bmp (or another format if you choose)
4. Change to your Windows folder or my pictures folder or some other place that makes sense.
5. Save the file (remember the name)
6. If asked, click the "current slide only" button
7. Use your control panel to make it the desktop image (right lick on the screen, choose properties, ...)
