Alright, I know this is an "Erotic" BB (although sometimes...), but I'm sure there are a couple of people in here who could give me a hand. And that would be very, very, very appreciated. Now, I'm not to bad when it comes to computers, I installed my own network card, rebuilt an old mac and have taken apart many an old desktop, but I got a question here. I just bought a cheap, old IBM ThinkPad (laptop). It came empty, with no programs on it and only ms-dos 6.2. I would like to install Windows (98 preferably), but I don't have a cd-rom drive. It does have a network card installed, however. Any ideas on how I could do this? If its possible? The specifications will allow it, but I just mean physically possible. Thanks

alright, I might have just figured it out. (a lot of help you guys were, oh well.) Does anyone have a cheap external cd-rom drive for a laptop they want to sell/give? :)

Hmmmm...

Without knowing the setup Funny_guy. But it sounds to me like you'll have to get a hold on an external CD-ROM drive. You should be able to hook it up through the paralle port.
Just install the software that comes with it. You might have to get a hold on an old windows version on floppy disks, and then upgrade it once you have installed the software that comes with an external CD-drive.

The reason I mention the old Windows version is. That I don't think you can get a dos version anymore.

Once you've done all that you should be up and running, and have a Permanent CD-drive as well.

Hope it helps.
