Computer help needed

I recently had computer troubles and had to get it reformatted now whenever I am using it and don't type anything or touch the mouse for approx a minute it jumps back to the sign in screen. How can I stop this from happening.
I am using windows xp.

try the following:
Goto Start>Control Panel>Power Options
When the new window pops up go to the "advanced" tab.
There's two check boxes in the upper portion of this tab. One of them will say "prompt for password when computer resumes from standby"

Uncheck it.

Hope that works.

I have a feeling that won't work, unless you've got your computer set to go to sleep after only a minute. Sounds more like screen saver to me.
Right click the desktop somewhere not on an icon, and select Properties. Click the Screen Saver tab, then uncheck the "On resume, display Welcome screen" checkbox.

I must agree with cd1_christine Windows XP Home has the default setting of screen saver in one minute, sleep mode in something like fifteen if I remember right.

appearance and themes
selest screen saver
set timer to 5/10 mins
