Has anybody had a problem where it seems to take a long time to accept a post or even to navigate from one section of the bulletin board to another? Usually it seems almost instantaneous but other times it seems to take 15 or 20 seconds, even longer, to respond to entering a post or maneuvering to another location. Initially I thought it might just be a server overload at Lit, but I can't help wondering if it's something in my machine, hopefully not some virus. On occassion, I've gotten tired of waiting and have gone back through a log-off and log-on to clear it. Has anybody else experienced this? I've scanned the machine with every anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall program I have and it comes up clean.

Lit. has been having issues of late. That being said, if you have similar issues on other sites, it could very well be your browser and/or machine.

The main servers of Lit are run by arguing chimps who are currently staging a 150m-dash with slugs. There's a lot of money at stake, so they are, naturally and understandably, preoccupied, with their attention focused elsewhere. Every so often, they do what they need to do to keep the site responding.

Actually, come to think of it, the reality is probably not far from this:rolleyes:.

SURELY you jest!! :)

I visit a number of forums on a wide range of topics and several run the same software as Lit. I wonder if, #1, they have kept up to date on newer versions and #2, if part of the problem isn't that there ar sooooo many active threads which go back 20, 50, 100+ pages and upwards of 5 years?

I'm not a techie at all but if I had to bet, #2 has a lot to do with it.

I also experience the same issues. It freezes up quite often for me and I have to wait it out a fair bit.

With my experience in hosting and servers - the reason is because of a non-optimized server. That's about as plain english I can put it without getting too technical. So you are on the right track with your #2 however if the server was monitored and optimized regularly, this shouldn't have any impact.
