The days were hot. Summers were supposed to be hot, but this was too much. The business suit Andrew wore didn't help matters, the material was thin but seemed to trap the warmth. And it was only morning, so it would only get worse.
The parking lot in front of the law firm was almost empty. Most of his coworkers were either 'working at home' or 'visiting clients', but Andrew wondered how much of that was true on a day like this. For him there was no such freedom yet: he only worked a few months at the firm and didn't have his own clients yet. For him the days were long and time for himself was rare.
But the pay was good, and for a 28 year old that recently finished his law study, money meant a lot in life. And there were other perks: tickets to shows or sport events, occasional meals in restaurants he normally wouldn't get a seat and every once in a while a masseuse stopped by to remove some tension.
As he entered the building he heard a crash behind him. Nothing too serious, just a car making a dent in another car and the reason he looked was mostly to make sure it was not his car that was involved. His eyes grew as he saw that someone had hit the Corvette of Mr. Graeme... the founder of the firm. Someone would get fired today. Not to mention the cost to repair the expensive car.
Andrew watched for a moment as the other car drove away and parked a little bit further as if nothing had happened. With anyone else me might have reported the incident, but when the car door opened and the masseuse got out, Andrew decided to show some mercy. He pretended to have seen nothing and at the same time looked forward to another massage. It was nice and the woman was pretty. He had a girlfriend, but attentions from an attractive woman were never a bad thing.
