DVS said:I'm confused. Just what kind of threads are we talking about, here? Those that talk about a sub's place to hang out, or a Dom's place, or all of the "what's your sign" threads, or the "how did you decide on your name" threads, or the threads where newbies can ask questions, etc.?
I did notice one recently created thread where some newbies were asking questions. A couple of them even said "finally" they had a place where they could ask questions. I don't understand that.
I think it's just people don't know how or don't want to take the time to search the forum before asking questions, or starting threads. It is all a cycle, really. New people come and go, and there are some of us who stick around. Someone new thinks they have a good idea for a thread and start one, then some old timers come and complain, because it's the second or third time that thread was started.
Of course, it isn't the same, for the person who started the thread. They weren't here when the other threads were started, and they want to feel as if they are part of this community. So, when they think they have an idea for a thread, they go for it. And, actually, just searching and finding an origional thread that was started by someone who has been gone for four years and adding your post to it just sometimes doesn't cut it. People want to leave their mark...and seeing the posts and views add up, they feel they have "arrived".
Now, was this what we are talking about, or am I still confused?![]()
I agree with you DVS. I have been around a little over a year. When I first got here I got involved with the "what do you call yourself", now I see a new thread like that and I say "been there, done that" later I remember what it felt like only a year ago and I may return and add something of bump a thread that might be helpful. I remember several threads I started early on that got no response at all. One I kept bumping to see how many "views" it could accumulate with not one post.
I come here at times with intent to respect a thread and not hijack. But, depending on what is going on, I fail the best of my intentions and get involved in hijacks. Several times I have been spanked for it, as I should have been.
I enjoy this place, the two BDSM forums most of all, and like to see new names and old friendly names alike. At times it is difficult to remember what it was like being new, so I drop in to a "welcome" thread to say hello to keep from becoming set in my ways and connected to only the "old timers"
