I’m not trying to be a tease here. But I felt like writing something, without either being too specific, or compromising anyone’s privacy. Sorry if that ends up seeming weird.

I got a message via the Feedback Form today. It was from someone who works in a field pertinent to the FMC in one of my stories. I’m not going to go into the details, but it was one of the most deeply encouraging things that I have ever received. Enough to sustain me through many waves of criticism and indifference.

It made me feel that maybe there is some point to this - frankly kinda ridiculous - hobby.

I wanted to share how it made me feel.

I received a comment yesterday on one of my stories that made me laugh. The story is The Scorned Young Woman Pt. 01, and in one scene, the MMC rescues the FMC (his daughter's best friend) from a place called Pie Town. She's gone there to drown her sorrows in pie after catching her husband with the town tramp. She's chubby, and food is her refuge. Anyway, in Pt.01, they end up having sex. The commenter said, "So the poor girl traded her pie addiction for a dick addiction. Five stars." I'm still laughing over this!

I have not had nearly as much time to write this year as before (that's a good thing for me and mine), to the point that I've gotten a few, 'Hey, are you still alive?' emails form folks on LKit. I do have another series in the works, and it is hard to stay motivated to write in my narrow free time when I'm not getting feedback.
Then Anony just dropped by with this, on a chapter mid-series of A Reputation:

How the hell are you so good at writing? This series stands out from the run of the mill crap, because you've got a knack for flow and organization, as well as what you might call dramatic foreplay. Wish I could write like that

One of the most gratifying types of comments I can get, and which I've received a few times, is to be told by a reader that she liked the story and can imagine being the female character in the story. That tells me that I've succeeded in writing my female character sufficiently to draw in and engage that reader, and as a male author it's nice to know that. I received a comment like that today in response to Late Night on the Loveseat with Mom:
