Comments That Make Your Day

Then there are the 'non-sequitur' comments. In one of my few BDSM stories (where I would have thought squick would be a rare reaction) I got an indignant comment headed 'Leave out animals' and telling me 'Warn us that the story involves animals'.

The story included the MC in a younger age being scared by a neighbor's dog, and later an admittedly threatening falcon. I have no idea which of these troubled the commenter. You never have any idea what is going to bother some readers.

Good lord that's ridiculous.

File under Not All Men But Definitely This Guy:

It wouldn't be a lesbian erotica without all the potshots at men. Why do authors do this? It comes off as so insecure. "Haha you pathetic men. Fear me and my lesbian ways, as I treat and please women better than you ever could. I shall give her orgasms which will make the kind she had with you seem like a hiccup." We get it. Anjali is super-duper smart in a world that doesn't want her to be, and now it turns all the men into overcompensating, posturing losers. It's a shame this category falls for this trope so often. All it does is demonstrate that lesbian romance can only stand on its feet by stepping on men.

I didn't write the story with the intention of making him sad, but I'm happy to have done so.

(How dare I not spend the opening of a Lesbian Sex story reassuring male readers of how attractive they are? It's just awful of me.)

I've posted about the wave phenomenon before. If I recall my record is 11 in one day or something like it. Honestly, I think the universe functions in waves.
Could it be that the story title appeared in one of those 'similar stories' fields Lit puts up around another storyline and that's why it pops - seemingly out of nowhere? Hum?

"I enjoyed your first story. I'm looking forward to reading your latest. I like that you keep your characters real and do a lot of world building. Keep up the good work."

It's a very simple comment, but I remember and appreciate it because the commenter specifically calls out my character and setting development. I don't write stories about people having sex. I write stories that have people having sex in them. A small distinction perhaps but I think an important one. So to get a commenter that gets it and appreciates it means a lot to me.

Another comment I've gotten repeatedly is "it would be even better if they also had hot anal sex."
That's not gonna happen. I only write what I'm into, and what turns me on. Anal sex isn't on that list.

I had a comment that someone didn't like a particular story and gave his reason. I prefer comments like that instead of just abuse or 'It sucks!'.

Interesting thing happened with a comment I got for my story Three Little Words. Although I couldn't really understand it completely, it seemed they felt the story should not have been put on this forum, or anywhere else for that matter, although it was very well received.

Here's their comment:

'Any story that depicts a pregnant woman [ Giselle] drinking or an asshole [Chuck Harper, 'Let's have a drink up in my room} ought not to be placed on a public forum. Yes, I know, but it's obvious neither character is referring to tea or lemonade. Too many ignorant readers might be misled to think it's ok.'

I responded with:

Although, I'm not exactly sure what the last comment was referring to, I can assure you that no pregnant women are drinking alcohol in this, or any of my other stories.

Today I got another comment from the same reader:

Excellent story. Unfortunately, I was drinking and got at least three different stories confused regarding names., activities, &c. Apologies are due and are humbly offered.

I guess the lesson here is: Never drink and comment.

I was gonna say, I don't recall any pregnancy drinking in 3LW.

I had some spaz scream at me once about portraying gay male sex in the Alexaverse, when I've never written a gay male scene in my life. I think it was meant for some other story in the Gay Male category.

There are a lot of synaptically impaired readers out there... 🤣

Knowing that I'm writing for the public, I try to be mindful about what I have my characters doing. I'm always a little afraid that someone might think that something is acceptable when it's not. Something like someone drinking when they're pregnant, is just something I would never write.

For some reason, feedback from authors I have read forever means more to me.

My new story gave me two from two I respect tremendously.

From Cali_Love

"A lot of fun from beginning to end, thanks for all your talent at throwing down a good yarn and sharing it with us mere mortals. A big 5*. Cheers!"

and from Bleeep

"I hope someday to be able to write a story of this caliber. Perfect in every way."

I gotta tell ya, they almost make me break down.

This is a PM I received today, rather than a comment, but I still liked it.

"I haven't checked your work for a while and I was delighted to see how much you have managed to publish this year and how good it is! keep writing please."

I think you've solved the mystery, dmallord. Out of nowhere my loving cousins story Top Floor to Ourselves got favorited 4 times in just a few hours:

It must have been linked from somewhere. Couldn't find it in the "similar stories" box of any of the I/T stories in New, but that seems like the best explanation.

My favourite comments are always the unhinged ones, though I'm sure they would hit a lot harder if they were all I got. This first one was posted on the first of five current parts in a series...

Found no desire to read past the first page and couple paragraphs in the 2nd page. This is plain stupid. I get it is fantasy, but no one in even their most deranged stupor would ever do this. Yes, you need couseling for even writing this type of crap. Can't even assess the worst score possible to assign to this load of crap.

The anonymous user went on to read and comment on the next 4 parts, which all posted at the same time with the moderation timing...

This whole series so far is a waste of time, poor topic - digustingly stupid storyline.

Author apparently plans to undermine the only solid person written about in this story. Really sad......

This story simply needs to die due to lack of interest. The main character should have simply broke up and moved on before it got even weirder why any one would want to read this garbage is beyond me. Disgusting even in fantasy.

Well we see someone undermining her partner to make herself feel good about a very sick life. What a turd to undermine her male partner who had nothing but the best of intentions in the long vested relationship that turns out to be onesided. Now she is interested in destroying two lives with this stupid trip to nowhere relationship wise. I am sure the author will think they turn this into a postive ending. But no way it will only be a facade of digusting sadness that is faked into the characters thinking it will work out. No way in real life would that take place. You simply can't overcome this type of emotional crap of I will make you fall down so I can make myself feel better.

For someone who thought it was unreadable and a 'load of crap', they got really invested!

It's always fun when the malcontents and whackadoodles read your entire body of work and then scream about how much they hate it and how untalented you are. You've touched something in them and they recoil from being exposed to it, seething in rage when they come up short. That's why they're always anonymous.

Enjoy it.

My new Christmas story (The Last Wallace) got 2 comments about it being like a Hallmark Channel movie. I guess that’s a compliment? Ha. A lesbian incest Hallmark movie would blow some minds.

I 100 percent agree with a comment about it being Hallmark (my girlfriend only plays Hallmark during the holidays) but you gave it the Literotica touch it needed, especially in the incest taboo category. 5 stars and favorite

Um.

I want to make a game with your story. I can't pay now. We can share revenue while people play it. Your writing is too good. by the way, I really loved your content. I think people will love your story and will pay if we can make it happen.

So that's nice... I guess?
