Can I borrow your car, Bob? That way, they'll deduct all my fines from your account too.

You could, only I think they shoot to kill after you amass $1,000 in unpaid...which would probably only take me until Tuesday.

So, what are you doing Wednesday :)

Damn, I guess I'm back to hunting a single male cop who likes teachers. The other option is driving the speed limit and it's about as likely as winning the lottery.

oh that's nothing.

just last monday here, they started writing tickets for speeding in a highway work zone, which they should have been doing anyway. the fine? $250, and if there are actual workers onsite, including those who just stand around, which is most of them, then I believe it is an additional $35 PER WORKER added onto the ticket. By the way, you still pay the price of a normal ticket too. How's that for raping the citizens?

already happened in the uk , at the moment there is a backlash by drivers using guerilla tactics and smashing the cameras

Crazy thing is, here, Speeding in a Work Zone is an Infraction no matter what your speed is. Say you are going 75 in a 55. If you are in a work zone, you are probably better off to pay the $250.00 fine and have an infraction conviction (Infractions don't go against your license or insurance) rather than a conviction the speed you were actually traveling which is a Misdemeanor conviction (adds points to both license and insurance -- which means $$)

Sometimes the legal system is truly a mess!

Pabloblack,

This is a little different. The cameras are in police cars that roam the streets. They are not stationary, street mounted. I doubt seriously that large quantities of people would really risk assaulting an officer.

When this gets to my part of the world, I guess I'll just have my paycheck direct deposited to the traffic court and cut out the middle man.

And that my friend is why some smart ass developed and is marketing the radar detector. Well worth the investment.

HMMMMMMMMM, sounds like butt fucking assholes who deserve it to me.
ANYONE that speeds through a work area deserves the aforementioned fines. Why? Well let's see, if you would care to check there are more construction workers killed on hi-way projects then there are Cops killed in the line of duty each year. That should tell you working construction on our hi-ways is just a bit dangerous. In fact, traffic flagger is listed as as one of the most dangerous jobs here in this state. Would you like to put on one of those bright orange t-shirts (in this instance T stands for target) and stand all day taking the crap dealt out by Joe Blow public? Because Joe didn't have the brains to take in to account that, my goodness, there might be delays around a construction site, and can't find anyone other the the flagger on whom to heap his bile?
Do I get frustrated with hi-way construction? Damn straight I do. But take it out on those in charge, not those trying to get the work done.

I also love the way Joe Blow drives by a work area, see's someone standing around and on the weight of a 15 second observation, ASSUMES that's all that person does. Never mind the other 10 to 12 hours that worker is out there trying to finish that particular project. Never mind that he/she might be a safety watch for another worker, or that they just finished a 20 minute work out with that shovel in their hand and are taking a 20 second breather, all Joe can see is,'They are a lazy ass 'cause I saw them standing still for 15 seconds while I drove past, cussing each and everyone of them, their children and their dogs, for daring to make me wait, wasting a couple of minutes of my precious time.'
No I do not work hi-way construction, but I do have friends who have come within a hairs breadth of being killed because of some arrogant asshole who assumed their time was more important then my friends life.

Comshaw if what I said offends you, then I'm sorry, I wasstating what is a law here FINALLY in this state, in my opinion it should have happened LONG ago. Sadly it took a politicians death of all people for others to be up in arms about work zones, and ticketing for speeding through them.

I'm NOT saying that people do not work there I see the progress that's made everyday I pass through one. But I AM saying that often times I will see many people just standing around, not doing anythign even remotely to do with what thay are there to do. Various times of the day, not just start time, lunch time, or quitting time, but ALL times of the day. I don't speed through these zones for the very reasons you pointed out. I'm not in that big a hurry that I need to risk ANYONES life to get to wher I'm going. Even if I'm running late for something. I'd rather be there late, than not at all.

Again if you take offense then that's too bad, and I'm sorry you do, but I was simply saying what happens here in this state.
