Except he didn't let Hillary off the hook. He publicly scolded her while he went outside FBI protocol, delivering a pronouncement that should have been given by a DOJ prosecutor, not the director of the FBI. He went outside of his brief--probably should have been reprimanded at that point and maybe he was and ignored it. Mind you, I think she deserved the scolding.
