Come vs Cum: the definitive answer

I’ve seen discussions on here before about the use of “come” versus “cum” to describe an orgasm. However, while writing my current series I’ve had occasion to ponder this and want to let everyone know that I’ve made an official determination as to correct usage, as I have found the need for both versions in my story, and therefore needed to make the final call.

I’ve decided that the word “come” is reserved for the verb or noun used to describe an orgasm (mainly for female, since I write lesbian stories, but I’ll generously let men use it to describe when their rocks are getting off.)

The word “cum” is reserved to describe the physical ejaculate when men do get off. The gunk, the stuff, the splooge.

Why is this? Because I know, especially while thinking a lot about lesbian erotica, the female orgasm is a beautiful, wondrous thing. A thing which deserves an elegant, non-yucky word to describe it. A guy having an orgasm could be a beautiful thing to his partner, I’m willing to allow. But, let’s face it, the word “cum” is kinda gross, and while I’m sure most lesbians would agree, I’ll bet even though guys (and some girls! Not discriminating!) find it hot to describe a man’s seed splashing on a woman’s breasts or even (I will never get this one, but different strokes...) her face, I’m sure we can all admit the truth that while allowably hot to some...

The stuff itself is still kinda gross.

With all due respect for the time you spent working this out, "cum" is one of my favorite words, acts, things to think about, etc. If I really try to work with your rationale, I still cannot get to it being gross or yucky. Oh hell no.

For what it's worth, I agree with your decision. Until recently I've mostly avoided "cum" by any definition, and I've used "come" for "experience an orgasm" only sparingly.

I'll call semen semen before I call it "cum"; "cream" and "essence" are higher on my list than semen.

Using "cum" to describe a woman's orgasm seems odd to me, especially since no "cum" is involved.

"Come" as the verb is common vernacular. I've never needed to spell it any other way. I also use "climax." I don't use "orgasm" as a verb, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I often don't capsulize the event into one word. I try to describe the experience instead.

The little story I'm working on now is a head-scratching exercise in describing a woman's several orgasms without repeating myself. So far, so good. She has one more to go.

I sense a relief in this community to this announcement that's almost palpable. I'm relieved, as are others, once and for all, of having to exercise any thought or judgment on this matter. It makes the task of writing much easier.

Now if you can just make a similar definitive call on such questions as the use of measurements to describe sex organs, the correct point of view in erotica, and the use or non-use of serial commas, we can end all disputes on this forum for all time. We won't have anything left to say, but we'll be much happier, I'm sure.

Come is the verb and cum is the noun but it is, of course, whatever makes you happy personally. If I was to write a “fuck” story ie where every other word is “fuck” then I’d probably use “cumming” because it would fit the readership I’m trying to attract.

But if you fucking think I’m fucking bothered whether I use fucking come or cum then you can fucking think again. All I’m fucking looking for is a fucking reader keeping their fucking hand busy all the way through the fucking story.

I've recently adopted the convention of using "come" as a verb, "cum" as a noun.

"I'm going to come," he said, then shot his cum deep into my pussy.

I don't understand "come" as a noun separate from ejaculate. Maybe as a synonym for orgasm or climax? "I had a shuddering come?" It seems that orgasm or climax would be much better there. IMHO.
