Hanging in, trying to have fun. Been trying to push myself out of ruts and complacency and back into creative modes. I should pop back up on this side of town more often, ey! :D

What color is Primrose?

Some of those stumped me also and I used to think I knew most of 'em through my old art school days of scouring through paint tube racks at art stores.

Had no idea Byzantium was a color.

To me "Carmine" has always been the typical name for that guy down at the local bar who can get you a new laptop very cheaply, provided that you don't ask too many questions.

And now I see that it's a color too... :)

Very Useful.
I think that the colours would have been better laid out in colour order (dark to light?), not alphabetical.

At first I would've thought so too. Like a Pantone wheel or swatch fan.

But this way, their individual colors within the same family stand out better instead of slightly merging with the colors adjacent to their edges as they could've going progressively from dark to light.

Might be easier this way to identify for one's use when remembering the name first, color value second.

Amaranth sounds as if it is a yellow color.

Primrose has rose in it, so it must be red?

No, it's generally a yellow (there sre sub-species in different tints).
It's a type of Primula.

How come there's no "Buttercup" ?
