This is something I'm interested in. Where do you buy your collars and what kind of price is normal? I'm more interested in a leather one, in my head I'm picturing something like a dog collar?

Also we're looking for something like an electric shock collar with remote. You can imagine what we're thinking for this.

where do I find something like this?

We've never really bought bdsm toys, so i'm looking for ideas.

I'm no expert, but uh, is a shock collar really a good idea? Not from an opinion standpoint, but from a safety perspective. We're dealing with electric near the head, and that's kinda bad mojo, isn't it?

Just google for fetishwear or sex toy websites. Pet collars are comfortable for prolonged wear. The sites I use are british so it'd be pointless listing them.

Google BDSM collar and you'll find a zillion and one sights; alternatively, you can simply go down to Target and buy a properly sized dog collar.

Maybe Geoff or DVS will be by to discuss the shock collar thing... they know far more about electricity play than I.

if your looking for a dog collar, you can try lookking in a pet store and you should be able to find some nice leather ones. anything made for a larg breed dog should fit you and it wont be too expensive

A dog collar is a perfectly fine play collar. Anything you buy on a bdsm site will cost twice as much.

Our scenes tend to go toward the longer side (an hour or more) and the collar can chafe and cause heat rash on her if it's raw leather ... so we checked around and got one that is lined w/a fake fur that is supposed to last.

It's also comfortable, more so than a dog collar or a plain leather cut piece, because it is rolled leather so the edges are softer. The attachment rings are riveted as well as run through the leather so they don't pull out in resistance play which we love.

Here is where we got the play collar (Achella) and a link to the collar itself:

It ran just over 40 bux, but as I say we spent for it because it is comfortable and we don't want to keep having to get new when a cheap one tears, as a couple of our earlier ones began to do.

As several others have said, many others at much less $$$ are fine if your play will be light or you don't wear them for long. I'd suggest experimenting for what you want, actually.

but you asked. Hope this helps.

Pet smart :cathappy:

*giggles*

almost all my collars come from pet smart. they range in price from $8 for a simple leather one to $35 for one with 24k gold detailing. My most resent perchase is a pattent leather one with rindstone detailing that cost $14 for the collar and $20 for the matching leash. With tax it was a little over $35.

I've seen cheaper ones at like walmart and places, but most of the time I don't care for those. There is one certian brand that I like for my plain leather collars and that's circle t, for my 16" collar it runs about $12, but they are a very nice feel.

i tried on a nice soft black leather collar the other day at a store, and now i want it really badly, but A wont let me get it :(

i know, that's why im asking, i was thinking of something a little less mild than electricity, something similar to electroshock bdsm stuff, like static electricity?

thanks everyone for the tips. I hadn't thought it might be uncomfortable for a long time. I'll guess we'll have to look around some more

You can buy them anywhere really. i saw one that i liked even in Claires. the first one He got me was just a diamond heart necklace that He got me for christmas, i wore that one as my collar for a while and then when He was here the first time He bought me one at Hot Topic. the one He bought me the last time He was here, He bought at a festival that was going on while He was here. i do also have a dog collar and leash for "play time". so really it just depends on what exactly You're looking for.

Versace used to make a choker out of large links of a black metal that sealed with a medusa-head padlock.

A gay sub was wearing it during a scene in Miami Vice where we were both extras. I offered mucho dinero for it on the spot but he couldn't take it off because his top had the key and he wouldn't have sold it for anything even if he could.

I've called every Versace store in the USA, but it's no longer being made. I do internet searches for it every once in a while hoping it will show up on ebay.

My white whale is the most tasteful piece of fetish jewelry I've ever seen and as surely as red blood runs through my veins it shall be mine one day.

Call me weird, but I kind of endorse buying a collar intended for BDSM from a legit shop. I like to support sex-positive companies like JT's Stockroom. Even SubShop is run by a real live kinky person. Sure, if money is important and style is not, a dog collar is fine. But I prefer the "purpose-built" route. You can get fleece-lined collars, discreet screw-down metal collars, posture collars (my collar is a custom fitted posture collar and I adore it), matching collar/cuffs sets...and don't forget shopping from individual artists like FetJeweller, FetishFlair, etc! (I love the Custom Chevron collar on the FetishFlair page.)

Anyway, my point is that while you CAN buy a collar at the pet store, there are some really nice products out there if you want to support the industry!

Yes. People who make gear are generally artists and not trying to jack you around, they just don't like to work for free. I'd rather put leather by Danny on my guy's neck than mystery made in China dyed with god knows.

Or Versace, but I know that's out.

This is my current love affair, when I get some dinero, I'm totally accessorizing myself.

Oh wow, I am not into pony play, but that pink bridle is gorgeous. I'd put it on Pink Blog but I try to keep the adult stuff on there pretty tame.

Added: Oh my god, the pink posture collar. I just died.
