What would a Cockney woman usually call her breasts? Would she refer to them as boobies?

You really need Og here, but let me try.

As you probably know, Cockney slang involves the use of a two [or more] word phrase, where only the first word is spoken.

The older form was apparently earthas [Eartha Kitt.]
The more modern form is apparently brads [Brad Pitts.]

A noice pair 'o' Bristols

Bristols

after Bristol City ( titty) Football club.:)

Thanks. I've always heard rhyming slang was used mainly by lowbrow types. The woman in question owns a small shop, and is a respectable widow, except she has a penchant for picking up certain strange men in a pub.

ETA: I've heare the expression "bristols" and I might use that, because it souunds more respectable. :D (It has nothing to do with the daughter of Alaska's governor.)

Yes, I was going to also say "Bristols," too. That's the expression I think you want to use.

Just to complicate things a bit, I have heard many men, many times refer, usually in admiration to a woman's Bristols but I have never heard a woman use the term and definitely not in reference to herself.

I suspect that even Og might be cautious in using Cockney slang partly because much of it is rather dated and the terms that aren't tend to be incomprehensible to non speakers of the dialect.

I da know that if I were usin' the (non cockney) dialect I knew as a bwoy thee ussent know 'alf ont. Ould 'ee?:)

I think a respectable, shop owning widow would probably call them breasts. Tits and boobs work too, but it depends on your character.

Bristols or knockers would do but I think a modern cockney would refer to her tits.

Rhyming slang is always overstated by "experts" of Cockney.

Og

Tits, I'm with Og... not personally you understand... it's not that we share a house or anything :D

Thaks, Og. he woman in question is a widow in her forties, and I describe her as rather earthy. I think I will go with bristols. Tits sounds a bit crude.

She's not all that respectable, having been widowed seven times. I'm not even going to try to write in dialect, except for some slang, such as that, and using British words, such as referring to a shop instead of a store. :) Thanks for the suggestions.

If she's attempting to be a bit saucy she might refer to them as 'the girls' or 'the twins'. which would make for some comic relief in an hilarious circumstance when she asks one of the blokes in the pub (not bar, though wine-bar might be acceptable) if he would like to see 'the girls'.

"Maybe you could come back to mine and see the girls." she looks down at her marvellous pendages which he takes to be an inconsiderate shyness considering it sounds as though she seems to be pimping her daughters.

I often refer to them as "the twins" usually with some adjective, such as beautiful or lovely or succulent or luscious or similar words.:p This lady is being quite saucy with the man she met in the pub, but only with him. It is a pub, not a wine bar.

Although I've lived my life in London, I'm not actually a cockney. However, sadly I'm forced to mingle with that sort of riff-raff the whole time, and my writer's Ear has picked up their harsh screeching slang:

Invariably men will refer to female breasts as Tits, while women will tend to prefer Boobs or Boobies.

When I win the lottery I will say farewell to the lot of them, the uncouth rabble
