I find myself in need of some advice....
I just bought a cockring for my guy, and we have never used one before.
This is the type that is somewhat stretchy and pliable with two rings, one for the cock and one to stretch around the balls; it also has an attached clit stimulator pad. I'm looking for advice from someone with experience...any how-to advice, what TO do or what NOT to do? I'd greatly appreciate it!

You may want to let him put his balls through himself, or with your help, to decrease the risk of hurting him. You usually get the cock hard, slip that ring over, then stretch the second and put one ball through at a time.

Make sure he doesn't have hair in the way, as the stretchy/rubbery/jelly types can catch and pull it painfully. So, a little grooming around the cock, balls and perineum may be in order before the encounter. Use a trimmer first if it's long, then stretch the skin on the balls and shave them (this makes them a lot more sensitive and lick/suckable, too!). There's good shaving advice in The Blank Manual sticky at the top of the main How To page. We find it fun to clean up together, and it's always helpful to have an extra set of hands.

In general, it's not a good idea to leave the ring on, or restrict the blood flow to ANY tissue, for longer than 20 minutes at a time. The tissue needs oxygen to stay alive and healthy, and that requires fresh blood cycling through within 20 mins or so. Likewise, he needs to be aware of how it feels - if it starts to go numb, tingle, look or feel funny, take the ring off and give it a rest. You may need to reposition or get a different or adjustable ring at that point (we like the adjustable anyway because they're easy to get on and off). There's nothing sexy about a dysfunctional or gangrenous cock, you know? :D

I think that's about it from my end, but I'm sure others will have some tips.

Have fun!

Thank you so much, Erika, I very much appreciate any advice given...

the cockrings that i love! are the vibrating ones. They are only a one time use thing but they are worth the 7 bucks to buy them every once in a while. they only last about 20 minutes, right around the time legnth that Erika posted for use of any cockring.
They are easy to put on and take off, but like Erika said - Make sure he's shaved or the hair can get pulled. They are made by trojan even so they come with a condom if ya wanna use it or not is up to you.

ok, thanks so much, we may try that...not sure this worked out so well...

Actually, you can buy vibrating cock rings that use batteries and can be used many times. Here's one good source:

I have seen some of these as well... Actually we tried the cock-ring, but I'm not sure it worked out so well, he didn't mind using it, but seemed not to stay hard with it on...? I enjoyed the clit stimulation, that was fine, but i got off of him when it felt like he wasn't that hard, and I noticed his cock looked rather gray...this was after about 2 min time, and I became alarmed and we immediately took the ring off... Any thoughts on this?
Much appreciated...

He was fully hard whan you put it on? And his cock looked gray after only 2 minutes of wearing it total?

Was it stretched to the max, or was there still some room for expansion?

The only thing I can think of is maybe try an adjustable ring that goes around his cock alone to see if the size and/or design of the one you have is the problem. The adjustable rings are just a loop with a little mechanism on top to keep the tension (see pic below; there are others, but we have this style, so I know it works) and can usually be had for a couple of dollars. Then you can determine whether it's the sizing or the design of your ring, or cockrings in general, that's the problem.

Why did you get the ring originally? Does he have trouble staying hard, or did you want the vibe, or...? If we know your main goal, maybe we can suggest something else that would work just as well, if not better. :)

Erica, thanks so much for getting back to me...yes it was only on for a couple min. max... and it wasn't stretched to the max either...it's quite stretchy, had no prob putting it on, we used lube with it, it fit snugly, so it seemed everything was fine. Shortly after starting, I noticed he was not as hard, so we stopped to check things, that's when i started to worry about the color...This is not a particular fetish of ours...had just decided to try something different...although I did have the thought that it would help prolong intercourse a bit. Occasionally there is a problem with his erection deflating slightly, but only very rarely, & its not really a problem in my eyes... I do think he may have been slightly nervous, as this was originally my idea, not his. But he was all for it, and we had no difficulty placing it. I wondered also, does the cock ring increase or decrease sensation in the cock, because I asked him how it felt and he said he didn't really feel anything.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right at all. Normally, the blood goes in through vessels in the center of the penis, and out through surface vessels, which is why the ring traps the blood. Perhaps he has different anatomy, though; it may be unusual, but it's certainly possible.

The ring normally increases sensation slightly, but also makes it not quite as sensitive after coming, according to Hubby and others' accounts.

How old is he? Does he have any medical conditions, like diabetes, blood pressure issues, heart problems or even smoking or drinking? Is he on medication for any of those, a mental or neurological condition, like depression, epilepsy or pain, or anything else that could have circulatory or erectile side effects? I'm thinking the softening erection and cock ring problem could be related, if so.

My guy is a quick comer, too. We've settled on getting all of my satisfaction in before sex, having him come before sex (via masturbation, oral, manual or prostate stimulation), going for subsequent rounds and toys as solutions. In all honesty, I take it as a compliment that he's still that excited about sex after all of these years and figure I'd much rather deal with a quick comer than a slow comer. :D

My fiance and I tried a couple cock rings. I dont have any problems maintaining a rock hard erection and I'm already fairly thick so the only thing I really noticed was that it held off orgasm a LITTLE bit longer than usual.

I have used cock rings for many years. I have quite a collection matter of fact. My favorite is one that circles the penis and balls. While screwing I will add one or more around the penis. We also have a cock ring with two bullet vibrators attached that we both love.

He's 41...with no health problems, he's takes no medication, doesn't drink, but does use chewing tobacco. That's it. To be honest, we don't really have any issues with our sex lives...i'm perfectly satisfied, we just have a few toys, and I thought we'd try a new one...I might try again a time or two, but let him initiate it when he becomes hard on his own...this particular time, I aroused him first using my mouth and as I said before I think he might have been nervous, or anxious...not sure. Believe me the cock-ring is not a deal breaker by any means...so we'll just keep experimenting with whatever...
I really, really appreciate your attention to this and the feedback! You rock, Erica...!

Cock rings don't need to--and shouldn't--cut off the return flow of blood through the veins of the penis. Simply slowing down the flow is more than enough, because that causes more blood to be retained within the spongy tissues, leading to a firmer erection.

Invest a few more dollars and try a metal cockring. Sizing is critical; most men of average endowment will need a 1 3/4" opening. Larger, but non-porn star, types, will need a 2" opening.

A cock ring should not be so tight as to MAKE a man hard; instead, it should restrict the blood flow enough as to KEEP a man hard while still aroused. That way, as soon as the arousal decreases, so does penis size--meaning he'll never get stuck.

Thank you, GDP, very good advice indeed...
