Vanilla Coke to hit shelves in May

ATLANTA, April 15 — Soft drink giant Coca-Cola Co., facing a stiff challenge from archrival PepsiCo Inc. in the crucial North American market, on Monday unveiled a new vanilla-flavored version of its flagship Coke brand.

ATLANTA-BASED COCA-COLA, the world’s No. 1 soft drink company, said it would begin distributing the new drink in the United States on May 15, followed by a roll-out in Canada.

“Consumers were excited about the idea of Vanilla Coke and we are pleased to give them what they want,” Coca-Cola Chairman and Chief Executive Douglas Daft said in a statement.

Would be nice if they would just go back to the 50's formulations, and bottle in glass again. They all taste like the old Royal Crown Cola now.

:(

Hey, I've tried Vanilla coke at sonic and it's good. Lead to one incident where my brother and I used up like 1/2 a bottle of vanilla extract at grandma's house :D

I thought that the debut on the 15th, followed by the rollout in Canada meant it was after us...

You're right. My vision was obscured by crack smoke. Carry on.

That seems to be a problem here on the General Board. *fans the air*

I wish eggnog and shamrock shakes were year round.

No kidding. I live for shamrock shakes. Del Taco makes bitchen orange shakes, though, and Jack In The Box's cappuccino shakes are tops as well.

Not that I, like, live on fast food or anything.

*looks around guiltily*

I've always wanted to try that. Okay, I think I will give it a whirl. :)

The first glass of eggnog is good. The second is okay. The third is like milk with snot in it.

Even as a PepsiCo employee I've got the Vanilla Coke launch date circled on my calender, there's sure to be a case in my fridge.....

As a die hard Classic Coke fanatic myself ... one of the few times I have written a company to complain about a product was when they unleashed the " New Coke " hell upon us poor faithful coke drinkers. I was pissed.

I would think that Coca-Cola had learned it's lesson. Don't fuck with what ain't broken. Leave Coca-Cola alone. It's perfect the way it is.

Can't wait. I love tasting syrups in different concoctions.

Silver, you don't have to drink it, do you?

No, I don't have to drink it. The point is they keep messing with an American institution.

When they made the new Coke ... they replaced Classic with it. We Coke Classic drinkers were left with no choice. It was either drink the new ... or switch brands to something else. That sucked. But there were so many unhappy people, they brought back Coke Classic.

They can make all the flavors of Coke they want. So long as I have my Classic Coke I don't care.

The thought of vanilla coke repulses me. I would like to have cherry coke again though...the sugar rush from that was phenomenal :D

Everyone's got the weird flavors now...lemon twist pepsi, diet coke with lemon, and tropical 7up. They're all really bad! I thought I'd like the tropical 7up but it's got this peach flavor to it..yuck!

When you set up the protest, let me know. I'll be right there beside you.
