Sir Winston Churchill's mother, Jenny Jerome, was an American. ;)

Winston Churchill was half American, but later he was given the the title of honorary US citizen.

He was a minister for the Liberal Party, and later Prime Minister for the Conservatives. Imagine in the US a senior Democrat becoming a Republican President. Only someone like Churchill could get away with it.

A very versatile man...I'm sure I would have found him most fascinating as I do now!

While known as a painter, sculptor, architect, and engineer, Leonard da Vinci was the first to record that the number of rings in the cross section of a tree trunk revealed its age. He also discovered that the width between the rings indicated the annual moisture.

The earliest known soup in Europe is probably the Marseilles fish soup from France, about 2500 years ago. It was probably brought into France by the ancient Greeks although many French are convinced that the Marseillians would have invented the soup soon or later.

NOTE: from Wikipedia

Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the "Renaissance man", a man whose seemingly infinite curiosity was equalled only by his powers of invention. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived.[2]

The left ear is more responsive to words of emotion whispered into it than the right.

So now we know where those sweet nothings should go.
