I want more decent RPGs.....something classically scifi styled....but no, most of what the US gets is crap like Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Squalid

two words. Rainbow Six. *nods sagely* I would like to point out that I've never liked any single game in the entire Metal Gear series, even BEFORE the Solid part was added. Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex is better at the genre than Metal Gear will ever be. And the Tom Clancy games like Rainbow Six are better yet

And play anything by Tom Clancy. Or Red Faction. Or Ghost in the Shell: SAC. I'd rather play 007 games than Metal Gear, and they NEVER get those right.

DooM wouldn't work well, and I still have yet to play counterstrike because I can't get it to install on anything newer than Windows 98 (it tells me my system doesn't have the required 512K of memory o.o)

erhm. Xenosaga is what Xenogears was MEANT to be, according to the group who actually did the work on both (after they left Squaresoft to make Xenosaga 1, 2, and 3 for Namco) before they fell into bickering on what the other three titles in the series would be about

"I've always have been and always will be a fan of the medieval RPGs. Nothing against the futuristic stuff like you've named off, but I defy any game to stand up to the likes of Final Fantasy III (aka, FF VI), Chrono Trigger, and Lunar."

Yeah FFVI was good, but FFIV was what hooked me, rented that way back in the day.
Mind you I sucked at all games back then x.x
I didn't make it much past the mist dragon.

okay. Star Ocean 1 and 2. SaGa Frontier. Phantasy Star 2 and 4 (one and three weren't as good in any way but plot). Xenosaga (come on, you can't go wrong with a series where each game alone is epic enough to not need the others). Vay (needed better graphics, but other than that). Magic Knight Rayearth. Record of Lodoss War. Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean. Popful Mail. Just to name a few games that surpass all of those save for Lunar.

oh, and let's not forget Super Mario RPG, Tales of Phantasia, Front Mission (the original was a mech oriented tactical RPG), Summon Night, Zoids Saga, Wild ARMs (the entire series, though 4 wasn't as good, and I haven't played 5 or 6 yet).
