Closing the border.

California is desperate for labor they don't want to pay for. Fuck California.

Sgt Spidey objects to "those people" earning a "living wage."

Funny how the cost of remediation of every other ill in society is easilly financed by simply insisting the rich and evil corporations pay by their "fair share" out of their "excess profits."

Also, how is it possible that California has a shortage of exploitable labor with over four million illegal alien residents? Could it be that the public assistance available is raising the market value of not working?

You believe trickle down works.

I am positive that trickle up does not.

BTW, is it just racism or fear of getting caught that leads you to your racist policy of never employing undocumented workers?

But who is going to pick your produce, landscape, take care of the children and clean your house?

Closing the border will do nothing.

Someone her is a big fan of human exploitation.

What that sentence fails to do is to state the obvious implication,
"But who is going to [cheaply and exploitively]..."
e.g., take a job from a teen or minority?

There is no economic term such as "trickle-down," it is a purely political pejorative employed by those with zero economic acumen. (It ranks right up there with the economic power of government spending. It's not fashionable to think about the "rich" spending as a good thing, but a smashing, bang-up proposition when the richest entity in the nation does the 'stimulative' spending...)

Right on point.
We have plenty of people to do that work.
The only reason that more are desired is the idea that they will vote for the Party that demanded an open border and the only way to keep them voting for that party is not gratitude, but with bribes from the largess of the Public Treasury.

Well obviously, but I was responding to Luk so I have to assume zero understanding of basic, universally understood economic principles. Recall when he tried to bail out Bobs' foolish posit that Obama's economic policies (with a stated goal of making energy necessarily more expense yo discourage its consumption) was responsible for a decline in gas prices? Luk asserted that: "Does Q-Bert not understand that consumer confidence and economic growth can contribute increased oil production without a policy?" None of which supported Bobs' position and makes zero economic sense. It might drive the urge to increase production, but it can't account for decreased prices since soaring demand has the opposite effect on prices.

Another term of art that erps me is the term inflation which is not an actual thing. The only thing you can do is have a deflation in the value of your currency. There's no such thing as inflation.

There are two fully developed "understandings" of basic economics.

How else can you 'sell' Socialism/Communism as a providing benefit?

I hope that doesn't stretch the screen.

..and one of them is dead wrong because it neglects to account for the impacts of everyone in whatever system you set up predictably acting in their own best interests.

Whenever you run into a fan of Keynesian economics it's always because something about how they are compensated directly relates to the idea that unlimited government spending is a good thing.

The left hand of that chart is inculcated with the idea that the individual should be guided from above in that economics is a historical, repeatable phenomenon and if you just study it long enough and hard enough, then the past is prologue to the present and if you spend x and promote policy y then, of course, you will get the economic outcome z. (But they rarely do.)

That is why the right side of the chart gets more right when it comes to economics. They understand that an economy is comprised of billions of individual acts on an ongoing basis in a chaotic system where what happened in the past is not much more an important metric as what the self-interest of the parties engaged believe the future to hold. And that belief is highly situational, near-sighted and unpredictable.

Quit being jealous of me and my position as someone who has the authority to hire and fire people of any race. Quit being jealous of the brown people taking the good jobs.

Brown people? The truth? You can't handle the truth! You want them on that wall! You need them on that wall!

Lots of brown people guarding that wall. Including my hispanic and indian brothers and sisters.:)

I was just pointing out the obvious. If you have ever been to TX, CA, hell even Massachusetts, it is Mexicans doing the work I listed.

And they aren't all bad either. A farm in Quebec supports Mexican workers. One worker, worked on the farm for 4 years. Instead of spending his pay on himself, he sent it back to village. They built they first school with that money.

Bad hombres.

I agree with you there silver. I have lots and lots of friends of the Spanish persuasion. Helped at least 2 become LEGAL immigrants who feel the same as I.

My construction days have long passed, but we stay in touch.

And yet, it perfectly describes the school of thought that most of Lit's RWCJ and a large number of right wingers in general subscribe to. From Wikipedia:
Trickle-down economics, also called trickle-down theory, refers to the economic proposition that taxes on businesses and the wealthy in society should be reduced as a means to stimulate business investment in the short term and benefit society at large in the long term. In recent history, the term has been used by critics of supply-side economic policies, such as "Reaganomics." Whereas general supply-side theory favors lowering taxes overall, trickle-down theory more specifically targets taxes on the upper end of the economic spectrum.[1][2]

The term "trickle-down" originated as a joke by humorist Will Rogers and today is often used to criticize economic policies which favor the wealthy or privileged while being framed as good for the average citizen. David Stockman, who as Ronald Reagan's budget director championed Reagan's tax cuts at first, later became critical of them and told journalist William Greider that "supply-side economics" is the trickle-down idea:[3][4]

The problem is that the super wealthy don't spend more as they accumulate more wealth. They hoard it. But you know that. You would prefer to cling to your "beliefs" that it works rather than simply admit that it doesn't.

I agree.

We should protect our borders.

Problem being that our forces are currently protecting the rest of the world.

Maybe the Chinese Army is for hire?

You are far less valuable to the US economy than any of the deported.

Old, useless, racist repug men are a drag to the nation and fuck it up for everyone.

When is he gonna die? It's taking too long.
