Closing in on Zero Hour

Well, I've got everything together and loaded in the truck. Even the books! I'm ready to roll on out of here in a few minutes and get my final item: a good pen. Thanks for all your support everyone!

 yay! Have fun boota. I'm all excited for you! can I :nana: here?

Well, I made it through. It went really fast. There was no newspaper coverage there, but they did a story on it leading up to it. My brother works in Lafayette, so he's trying to get me a paper with it in there. Totally missed it when it came out.

I only sold three books, but I got to meet and talk to a lot of people, which is to be expected at a booksigning. Gave out a lot of bookmarks with my contact information on it, so that may spark some sales in the future. It was cool talking to the other authors. There were 11 authors there and only five of us sold anything. I've been told that the average non-celebrity author sells 4-7 books at a signing, and that is with a PR machine working for them. I feel pretty good about my three sales considering that fact. It was a lot of fun, too, so it was all good.

The manager told me to keep her updated on anything I have going and she'll try to get something else for me in the future.

The bad thing is I was sick all day. I've been feeling bad for a week. I think I may have to have my gall bladder taken out. I can't eat or drink anything without getting sick. I would quit eating completely until I see my doctor tomorrow, but I have to take antibiotics for a severe infection in my arm and I can't take them on an empty stomach. I'm a fucking wreck! LOL. Three visits to the ER in six days. Not fun. Especially being uninsured. I put on a good face and I really enjoyed talking to everyone, but I was physically feeling miserable.

I spilled Snapple on my Agent of Satan t-shirt, so I ended up wearing a normal shirt. I still scared some people. LOL. I can't help it. It's just the way I look. I can see the fear in their eyes, and I kind of like it. LOL.

Thanks everyone. And EL thanks for the :nana: . :)

You're welcome to the 'nana Boota -yay for you! I'm glad you sold some books and had some fun -sorry to hear you're bodily falling apart though, hope you get all that sorted out soon

And yeah..Dr M has a point.... :p

Congratulations, Boota! Sounds like you had a fantastic experience (except for the health issues - sorry to hear about that).

I think it's a huge accomplishment, one that you should be exceedingly proud of. I confess, I'm just a tad bit envious...

...but very happy for you!

:rose:

Decent!

May the wing get better quickly. And the gall bladder thing-- Jesus. Stay with us, would you, we'd be missing you if you keeled over.

Thanks cant and LadyJeanne! I really enjoyed myself, despite the health issue.

I expect to be around for a long time. I take pretty good care of myself. It's just that when it rains it pours, I guess. A small sore on my wrist ended up sending red streaks up my arm and swelling my left hand up to the size of a cantaloupe. All that is gone now, but I'm still forcing down food so I can take the antibiotics. Apparently eating right, exercising, and living a clean life isn't all it's cracked up to be. LOL.

That's bloody brilliant, Boota! One hell of an experience, eh?

Thanks Lou and RG! It was a hell of an experience. It was the first time I had actually been invited somewhere to sign my book. Nice to be recognized in my own community.

The other signing I had was an impromptu one at a pizza place. I had some books in my car and I sold and signed one for a guy who my uncle knew. That guy read a little bit of the book and started calling people and they just started coming in to buy a book and get it signed. That was pretty cool. I sold 28 books that day.

Man, I'm a shitty book salesman, huh?! LOL.

www.mr-undesirable.com (the cheapest way, plus eBook availability.)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...f=sr_1_1/002-1732361-7777644?v=glance&s=books (with a search inside the book feature that lets you read the first section of chapter one.)

Barnes and Noble has it listed on their site, too. A guy named Dick gave me a great review. Being hopelessly heterosexual I never thought I'd say it, but after I read that, I love Dick! LOL.

Cool, Boota, inspirational to all us wannabes. You've done more than a lot of people dream of, so fuck the gall bladder, anyway.

Thanks Joe! There are a lot of great writers on here, much better than I am, and any number of you guys could do the same thing. Probably even better. For a bunch of smut peddlers there is a lot of talent here. LOL.

I'm on the way to the doctor right now, so hopefully I'll be getting this problem under control. I'm thinking some of it is a drug reaction to my antibiotics. That should be cleared up today if it is. I'm feeling really good right now. It's like having a mechanic look at your car and it won't mess up in his presence. I even had pizza for breakfast hoping it would aggravate the problem, and so far nothing.

Dear Boota,

Congratulations. And wow! Everybody at Amazon had good things to say about it:) Maybe someday I'll put together a listmania thing and toss your book on there:)

Anyway, I posted earlier in this thread, but for some reason, I posted under Candy Sweet. Just wanted to let you know that was me. Good luck with the book. And good luck with your health. We want you to stick around. Especially now that you're admitting how much you love Dick.

:cattail:

Sweet.

Dude! I'm reading the excerpt on Amazon and I'm loving it.

I worked at Burger Hell for a couple of years. I toooootally agree.

 for all the stuff you said about Work Hell. esp. How would you like these fries shoved up your ass?lol. Right on!!!! :p

Thanks everyone! I think I'm ready now. I have to buy a better pen tomorrow, but other than that I have everything in one place. If I don't get back on here before I leave in the afternoon I will be sure to come on later and let you know how it went.

Sharpies!
And smile a lot.

Sweet,

Thanks a lot! (I didn't know you were Candy Sweet.) I'm glad you're enjoying the excerpt. :) Have you read the excerpt on my page from the publisher's site? It's a good one, too. I've been doing pretty well on Amazon lately. I'm working on selling them out of their stock for the third time in a month. That has me hopeful.

Burger Hell (and Pizza Hell, Waffle Hell, etc.) seems to be a universal hatred. LOL. If anyone has ever worked at a place like that then they know all about it. When I die I'm going to Pizza Heaven, because I did my time in Pizza Hell. LOL.

I made the rounds of the Border's Book sotres in Indianapolis and by the end of the month they will all be carrying Mr. Undesirable on the shelves. And hopefully that will get me a guest spot on the Bob and Tom Show. I called about that today and I have my fingers crossed. (Very hard to type like this, by the way.)

As far as my health, I'm doing great. Everything seems to be 100% and I feel ready to take on the world. Thanks.

Extreme Bohunk, that's good advice. I'm not much of a smiley guy, but it worked. When I smile I look even more sinister, I think.

Man have I wanted to say that to a couple of customers!

My booksigning is tomorrow. I'm excited, but not nervous. I hope I remember to take my business cards and bookmarks. I hope I remember to bring a pen. I hope I ordered enough books. I hope I didn't order too many.

This should be fun. :)
The very best of Luck to you, enjoy your day. :rose:

Just to make sure everyone knows, this is an old thread and that signing is over, but I do appreciate the good thoughts and well wishes. Thank you. :) The next thing I have is that I have been invited to speak to some writing classes at a college in Ohio and to host a writing workshop. I never even went to college, except to drink on the Purdue campus and to beat up a stalker of a friend at Indiana University, so this should be interesting. LOL.

Thanks RG! Things are starting to move more to my liking. :nana: (If I can't use a dancing banana there, where can I?)
