Why Do People Set Up Fake Profiles?

Especially Males Pretending to be Females?

Or is it getting more common with Females now and there just better at it?

And has it always been a problem since Lit Started?

from the history of outed posters over the years, it would seem the main purposes are these:

1: a regular poster already has an established 'manly' presence and wants to explore things that actually tickle his pickle but needs to do so incognito having been so vocally against those same things under their normal user name.

2: catfishing, in hopes to get 'dirt' on other posters

3: have had an epiphany over their own sexuality and identify as a woman even if they can't openly come out about it

Definitely don't lose my mind I like a challenge but there so easy to spot useless start with the one's that have 0 replies.

I did that in my AOL days. I was young and stupid. But I did do it once to confirm a friend of mine is gay. He confined it to me much later.

I can see why people might do it as you have explained but, to me it just seams pointless because at the end of the day it's wasting everyone's time.

Because there isn't enough real females online and so as man they get bored.

1. More men will reply to a thread that's started by a female

2. They just want to have sex chat but don't want gay chat so they pretend to be the female.

Not really. Let’s be honest you and I and others are wasting time being on here. Unless you are here for helpful information we are wasting time. Now if that matters to you or others then stop but someone’s fake profile doesn’t affect me in the least.

Probably bothers more the guys that reach out to female profiles not realizing it is a guy or a fake profile. But they choose to spend time reaching out.

Personally if I wanted a sexual relationship I wouldn’t do it here. I found from personal experience online dating is what works. Guys woman are just as horny as us.

- to gather dirt on other posters and unleash it on the board in the most embarrassing way possible

4. There has always been a greater turn on for gay men in getting (turning?) a straight man. By faking it they can get real interest from a straight man who wouldn't otherwise interact with them.

Males set up fake accounts as women for a couple of reasons.
* They may be gay and like to get other guys to talk with them who aren't gay....
*They don't get the responses from women and hope to strike up a convo with a woman or pretend to be lesbian to talk to women sexually where they otherwise wouldn't be able to.

I also I think men/women set up fake accounts Is to have a fellow person to agree with them or defend them when they bring up a certain topic.

The only reason I think women do this is perhaps to follow up on a guy to see if he's talking out of 2 sides of his mouth, sort of like a spy.

Either way it's to much work and I would rather be 1 person and tell it like it is.
