I just noticed that the 'Million Dollar" thread started by Susan Jill Parker has been closed. Anyone know why?

It just seemed like a bit of froth and bubble, a nonsense thread of no great consequence.

If someone has a complaint, who are they? Running to Laurel to get a thread stopped should at least be justified and the complainant declare who they are.

Several threads have been closed, including the Halloween contest thread. I had to open a new thread to move the announcement on contest winners to the AH. Presumably it's to counter personal attacking.

SJP had said that in the thread that she made a complaint based on new forum rules, because you made negative comments about her.

This person may have only returned to Lit because of these new rules, so maybe leave her be.

None of my comments about Susan/Freddie were erased (whereas posts by Freddie have been erased. They presumably were considered personal attacks). It's not a personal attack to point out that this is a male poster posing as a woman--and sometimes engaging in comments/discussions with other posters that take the other poster down embarrassing trails on misunderstanding of Susan/Freddie's real gender and thus not having really engaged in the female situations claimed. To do so is in pursuit of supporting/protecting unwitting posters.

I don't care if threads get closed or chopped up on the basis of personal attack and I don't plan to cut back on my posts, which, as I noted, haven't been among those erased as far as I can see.

I thought the whole thread was deleted.

Okay I found it.

Do you think the below quote was offensive?

{{LOVE THIS LOL!

However, Laurel would be an idiot to sell Literotica for 1 million dollars. MORE!}}

As I already noted, multiple threads have been closed and deletions of posts have been made in other threads as well.

And, yes, I think Lit. could be sold for more than $1 million--but I don't see how that opinion violates any posting rule here.

The idiot thing could be misinterpreted.

No, I think Litt is worth more.

Calling another person's gender into question is considered a personal attack.

These are the broad guidelines as they stand.

Personal attacks and trolling will no longer be permitted on the AH. The degree of accepted truth of the statement makes no difference. If the same statement applied to someone else would be an attack, it is not permitted.

Political threads centered on candidates, politicians, parties, or elections will be moved to the politics forum. Threads about specific political issues are permissible.

Threads that devolve into nothing but member in-fighting will be locked regardless of whether they're on topic. The degree of tolerance depends upon the nature of the thread.

Arguing amongst participants, off-topic negativity, and questioning the legitimacy of the contest/contestants will no longer be tolerated in the contest support threads. Such discussion should take place elsewhere.

Allegations, no matter how vague, of cheating in the contests will no longer be permitted on the AH. Such matters should be brought to Laurel and not tried by mob justice on the forum.

New sherif in the AH. Good stuff.

Good luck with that, now that the trolls own the farm.

Take things to laurel? What is that going to do? She checks the numbers but not the rest of what we on the forums see and hear.

And just for future reference, The four threads that Freddie started were for one thing and one thing only, to get certain people banned from Lit. I pointed that out in one of the threads but the post was deleted.

Have fun.

Calling another person's gender into question is considered a personal attack.

I think you should pay attention to the above.

Now to anyone else reading this I am hoping this post is not seen as a personal attack, its not meant as one, its meant to point something out that's been going on for years under the guise of 'we' have to warn people about posters 'we' don't like.

Its not up to you-although you think it is-to run around following SJP around telling all the new members that she is a he or so we believe, If SJP's point was to bait then it worked because you have been trolling them for years, but of course won't see it that way.

Perhaps they are baiting, or maybe they do feel with rules and a mod they can actually post here on the boards without you shadowing them saying "know who this really is?" Its no one's business who someone 'really is' especially seeing no one here really knows who anyone is.

Funny because all their recent threads were getting a good amount of replies and were fun and the only snark from you pointing out who you think they really are. That and some from another poster famous for attacking a certain member.

Fact is with the exception of telling some tall tales and being a little argumentative at times, SJP has not been all that much of a troll, the new members are not bothered by them and if they are they can put them on ignore.

But every time they post you have to come roaring in 'warning; everyone about who they are. For years the boards been full of scouries crap, but every one of his posts was followed by one of yours and then Darniciad and at times pilot.

You blamed scouries for all the BS, but fact is there was a time where any thread he popped up on-even when his posts were on topic-became crap because of all the 'warnings' some here felt they needed to give.

The ignore feature is here for people to not have to deal with whoever they don't want to deal with and that's all there needs to be.

Its time to end this "do you know who they really are? Etc..."

You keep saying lately, the assholes can have the place. News flash, a lot of real old timers think that's been the case since 2005-2007 when you and Pilot and Dark and BFW polluted thread after thread with their games and then the self appointed 'police' here constantly blowing up threads to 'tell people the truth'

The truth can be seen by anyone with eyes. If someone is an ass to someone they can ignore them. But its up to them to decide that. JBJ was another one you felt you had to always warn people about, his remarks always followed by your snark and then more of his.

Fact is you have contributed to the problem here for years as much as anyone you see as a troll because of your trolling of the trolls.

Its gotten to where my analogy of it is starting a new job or moving into a new neighborhood and a people coming running over saying "Pssst, see John? He's an asshole, he's a liar, ignore him, be rude to him"

"Why? He hasn't done anything to me."

"OH, but they will, they did this and that and this and you better believe us!"

That's what you've done here and have for years.

Now there's a mod and as much as you thought it was amusing at first because oh, now the trolls would 'get theirs' you're being affected by it just as much in fact more because now you're attitude is the 'assholes' own the place.

You're right they have owned it and 'they' isn't just the two or three people you and others keep calling out, its at this point the ones doing all the calling out.

People here are adults-in one form or another-they don't need the self appointed sheriffs here running around trying to turn new members against people they don't like.

The new rule has been put into affect and the mod seems quite active. Its no longer your job to tell everyone all the gossip about others.

Not saying I haven't been guilty of that in the past, but whatever the rules are here I'll follow them and its kind of ironic to see who the rules are really affecting at this point.

It was closed because at least two that I know of reported a post near the end as a personal attack. Up until that point the thread was actually in the spirit of fun it was meant to be and a decent discussion.

1 Who is AH Mod? - Interesting that the AH needs a mod after 16 years without one.

2 The Broad guidelines are just far too broad - so broad in fact that they constitute a basis for draconian censorship.

3 AH mod gave no specific reason for closing this thread - just the general catch all censorship provision.

I have no problems with the site owners deleting, banning posters or taking whatever action they please, but when one starts down that slope, where do you stop? At least say why in specific terms.

It also seems to me that the site owners are a bit fed up with the AH - and some posters (justifiably) in particular. However, I am also getting the impression, I hope wrongly that the site owners have little respect for the people that produce the material at the core of their site, and its income, the authors.

I hope I am wrong and just a curmudgeonly old moaner - but hang on, am I allowed to insult myself? better watch out.

There was a time when some very well argued political threads appeared on the AH. Pure's regular and forensic trouncing of Amicus was a pleasure. I once started a political thread myself which ran and ran. It was just titled "Sarah Palin." It was full of insults and rudeness, but mostly directed at Ms Palin. And there is the crux of the problem. It is bitchiness and malice and insults between AHr's which is the crux of the problem, not politics.

The debate about Politics is largely a distraction, however, it is amusing that the idea of having a Politics Board was first mooted on the GB, it was formally and solely debated on the GB, and finally voted into existence (narrowly) by the GB alone.

Laurel then made the decision that it would be applied to everyone except the GB!

Was this blatant favourtism of the intellectual giants of the GB and a smackdown to the AH, or was it just a recognition that the GB is the sump at the very bottom of the Lit sewer and unreformable?

Anyone responding to this thread can insult me as much as they care to, I shan't take offence .:)

I've never made a complaint to Laurel about anyone. I have 3 people on IGGY, mostly because their posts feature tons of photo attachments.

Laurel recently deleted a thread I made at GB. It was an alert about hackers and scams. That is, the IRS sent me a notice that hackers stole one million of their accounts and mine is one of them. Then a large national phone company sent me notice and demand to pay for 7 cell phone accounts I didn't open. I didn't name the phone company but the thread vanished. I don't know why or what policy I violated. Its her ball and bat we play with.

Tex and Pilot are gentlemen and scholars. I prolly don't meet their high standards, and their posts about me are community service.

For too long, every thread has been disrupted by in-fighting amongst a small fraction of the posters to the AH. Rather than calming and flaring in cycles as expected, it has become the norm and grown increasingly disruptive. The decision to moderate was made on the basis of widespread discontent expressed to Laurel by the majority of members who have attempted to stay out of the fray.

Upon review, I believe I closed the thread in question when removing the disruptive posts would have better served the purpose. I have corrected that error, and the thread is once again open to posting. If anyone has a question or concern about a specific moderation action, feel free to ask me about it via PM, or you may naturally take your concerns directly to Laurel. Almost all moderation can be undone should an error in judgment occur, and moderators are just as human as everyone else.

A BARD sighting.

Hey Bard, make the cry babies take their crap stories to the feedback board and they wont get their tender feelings hurt.

Thank you for making the Author's Forum board a better place, a place where we can discuss writing and ideas for our inner muse and inspiration without fear of being verbally attacked.

Aint gonna happen, aint gonna happen cuz anything unflattering is hate speech.

My infamy began, back in 2007, when I suggested adverbs are a problem. Go see the abuse I attract for my writerly threads. The BARD MOD looks the other way.

Report them, and I will review them the next time I'm online.

I don't report. I put my big boy pants on and move on since Laurel Belle made it policy to shut up or kiss ass.

This is one time I agree with Jimmy.

Like the old saying goes, "If you can't stand the heat, get the fuck out of the kitchen."

I like your hair. It frames your face. And...have you lost weight? You look so skinny, model skinny.

"Hey, much like slipping the car valet a twenty to keep your car safe, there's nothing wrong with buttering up the Moderator."
