How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers​

The evidence is in their own poorly fabricated figures​

The number of civilian casualties in Gaza has been at the center of international attention since the start of the war. The main source for the data has been the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, which now claims more than 30,000 dead, the majority of which it says are children and women. Recently, the Biden administration lent legitimacy to Hamas’ figure. When asked at a House Armed Services Committee hearing last week how many Palestinian women and children have been killed since Oct. 7, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the number was “over 25,000.” The Pentagon quickly clarified that the secretary “was citing an estimate from the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry.” President Biden himself had earlier cited this figure, asserting that “too many, too many of the over 27,000 Palestinians killed in this conflict have been innocent civilians and children, including thousands of children.” The White House also explained that the president “was referring to publicly available data about the total number of casualties.”

Here’s the problem with this data: The numbers are not real. That much is obvious to anyone who understands how naturally occurring numbers work. The casualties are not overwhelmingly women and children, and the majority may be Hamas fighters.

If Hamas’ numbers are faked or fraudulent in some way, there may be evidence in the numbers themselves that can demonstrate it. While there is not much data available, there is a little, and it is enough: From Oct. 26 until Nov. 10, 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry released daily casualty figures that include both a total number and a specific number of women and children.

The first place to look is the reported “total” number of deaths. The graph of total deaths by date is increasing with almost metronomical linearity, as the graph in Figure 1 reveals.

80% of civilian architecture has been destroyed with the use of thousands of 2000lb bombs, mostly unguided.

The 31,000 dead is an under estimate, not an over estimate, due to the nature of Israel’s bombardment.

Although, one of the released hostages said she and her kids were held above ground in a "civillian” residence. And some medication has been delivered to Gaza.

The “retaliation” by Israel isn’t a criticism from this quarter.

The only time “retaliation” is a bad thing, is when it is based on a unjust premise, and is executed in a barbaric fashion. See: The Hamas animal’s October 7th rape, torture, murder, and kidnapping operation that SOME claim was a just and justified act of "retaliation".

CNN reporting on the 12,800 children that have now died as a result of indiscriminate Israeli bombing, sniper fire, and now starvation in this war.

10 times higher death toll than the total revised figure (downwards to 1200) for October 7 and that’s just the children killed.

It’s maddening as that’s not how a statistical analysis of the fighting should work.

Particularly as he’s using previous death tolls without the context of the weaponry being used.

This is the first time that Israel has physically carpet bombed Gaza. The tonnage of bombs they have used is astonishing, now exceeding two hiroshimas. The majority of the bombs dropped are dumb bombs, unguided 2000lb bombs.

The us and uk didn’t even use these in the Middle East or use them regularly in any kind of action.

Yet that’s what American tax payer dollars have provided and that’s what Israel has used on a strip of land only 25 miles long and 5 miles wide.

Final point of info: the amount of explosive weaponry used has a carbon footprint. Israel has, single handedly, in a six month period, contributed more to global warming in that period than the industrial output of most second and third world countries.

Which means we won’t as a planet meet our targets for 2023 and 2024 in terms of reducing our carbon output, the war in Gaza has single handedly pushed the world to greater climate change damage.

Which frankly is a moot point if you live in Gaza with over 31,000 people dead, 12,800 of which are children.

Use some nuance for god sake man.

Hamas was the govt in charge.

The health ministry of any country will report figures as best they can regardless of what govt is in power.

Virtually every single aid and UN body has said the Hamas health figures are a conservative estimate of the actual death toll, which is likely due to the nature of Israel’s assault, to be significantly higher, not lower.

So even if you have doubt in the figures, your doubt will be about how low they are, not how high they are.

If you can’t get your head around this I can’t help you, and you shouldn’t be commenting on something you can’t understand fully.

Considering more have died of starvation, they’ve been caught bombing more UN facilities and now there’s question over their “evidence” for UNWRA, not going very well at all, factually.
