Interesting anecdote: One of the major successes of the Israeli military's information office is pushing the mantra "Everybody knows the Gaza Health Ministry routinely inflates their casualty figures". This has been accepted as an article of faith by the Western press, as well as some people here on Lit.

1. Both Israel and Hamas has inflated their initial casualty reports.
2. The Hamas numbers have been drastically higher consistently. The grandest and clearest example was the hospital attack early on where it was immediately thousands of people dead.....as far as I've heard recently, that number is down to less than 100.

I've seen this in real time, which is why I wait for independent confirmation before relying on anything.

As for the Gaza Health ministry specifically, I don't have an opinion one way or the other. Most reports I've read are geared towards supporters of one side or the other. War sucks and kills a shitload of people.

Some years ago, the Gaza Health Ministry began releasing the names and addresses of casualties to the International Red Cross each time they made a press release of casualties. The IRC would meekly say "Yes, the Gaza numbers look legit to us" but the constant "Gaza Health Ministry LIES!" narrative ruled the day.

So beginning late last month, the Gaza Health Ministry began releasing spreadsheets of victim names and addresses with each casualty press release directly to reporters. Reporters actually did some fact checking and confronted the Israeli military propaganda dept with the seeming discrepancy when the Gaza Health Ministry numbers matched their press releases.

"Loot-see! You gots some es-plainin' to do!"

The Israeli military angrily "stood by their claims", but have backed off almost entirely on their "exaggeration! EXAGGERATION!" drum beating.

I actually believe the number could be much higher.

That ^ does not negate the skepticism about how that number died and who they were.

Also: The Hamas animals should not be given any respect or acknowledgment that elevates them to human level.

• And of course the latest trope "beheaded babies" (exactly one third-hand account from a morgue attendant hundreds of miles away from atrocity found exactly one baby corpse with head separated from body....sold to President Biden as "40 babies"....Biden admin walked that statement back the following day).

WTF? The edit function didn’t work, that drop down menu never opened, stayed blank.

Some times if you take too long an error code comes up, won’t let you post.

I’ve done all the other remedies.

If you cannot accept that Palestinians exist or have a right to exist, you just continue in your bias. (Just as much as those who cannot afford Israelis the same consideration)
