Do you actually believe that makes a fucking bit of difference to me. Those families deserve that money. Fuck Iran in spades.
Since you believe the money could be used for US domestic issues, no....I don't think you actually understand it enough to make a difference.

If it was the US‘s money, yes

As it turns out

Would seem so, too bad we had to let it go
Not US money? Iran killed those brave soldiers, do you actually believe those families aren’t entitled to some kind of compensation. You’re more concerned about Iranian cash over our dead soldiers. WTF??

Lol, yah, reparations don't quite work that way.

Our treasury department can do whatever it wants to do. Our court system could file suit against Iran and take it. I will call my senator and find out why that can’t be done. If he answers? If Obama can load pallets of cash during a night time operation we’ll just saying.

That's not how it works. We would have to file the suit in a court we don't even acknowledge as being legitimate.

Why should we be concerned what the world court thinks. That court is corrupt. That money should’ve been redistributed to the first set of hostages back in 79. What I believe is that we don’t have the political will to do it. We didn’t have the political will to go after Saudi Arabia after 911.

So you want our court system to file suit against Iran but the court is corrupt...?

Say the word "pickle" if you're having a stroke.

World court, I stated quite clearly the world court is corrupt. Are you having a stroke?

Got it. So our court isn't corrupt but the world court is.

So which court would force a foreign country to pay us money that was never ours for casualties in foreign conflict?

Should we claim a war crime and use definitions of war crimes that our own government doesn't recognize?

One thing that struck me about President Biden's speech tonight. It may have been the lighting, but his chin has taken on obvious scrotal properties. In other words, his chin looked like a ball sack. I had not noticed that before.

Hopefully, your focus on ball sacks, at some point, changed to the serious side of his admonishments and our situational awareness over regions on fire and poised to suck us into war. Spend the money, hunny, and save our troops before they become objects of war.

I noticed his sincerity and clarity, and he didn't stumble over reading a teleprompter like so many make fun of him for doing. He was Presidential, appealing for common ground in what he noted as an inflection point in our history. Good for him.

If you haven't wandered away to ball sacks again, stay with us, and let's see if Congress can get its head out of its ass and follow his lead in delivering that funding.

Fair enough. I thought with all the seriousness maybe a little levity (and legitimate questioning) might be ok. I'll take my lashing.

It was not his best speech, I thought his remarks yesterday were much better. As for the topics, I'm all for funding and giving Israel whatever they need at this time and getting out of their way...come what may. If Hamas chooses not to release the hostages, then they will pay. Unlike many, I'm not sure they are still alive, although I assume the intelligence agencies have a good idea.

As for Ukraine, I'm ready to cut of the free flow of funds. While Russia is a corrupt regime, don't forget the Ukraine historically is not far behind them. We have certainly soent enough without any checks and balances by now, that I'm even fine with the gop shooting down this bill.

What would be nice is to see congress offering separate appropriation bills for each, at least Israel would be funded, and that's the important one for me. Have a wonderful evening.

My apologies. I was a bit heavy-handed. I saw your comment as just some flippant rant like so much on this thread that I got on my high horse over it - didn't take it as levity considering the situation - just a crank rant.

I appreciate your added viewpoints - perfectly acceptable commentary and cogently put together.

My view is that funding should be provided for both. In over eighty years I've seen so much conflict that I'd like to keep our soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen out of harm's way. As an old soldier once said, make sure it's the other dumb bastard that dies for his country in his lands; not one of ours on home ground.

Peace to all Peoples

As I am reminded often, those that have truly seen war are the least likely to encourage it.

We may differ slightly on the funding, but I appreciate the response in such a gentlemanly manner.

When someone sends you into a war you have no clue about, when you've killed foreign men you've never met in the name of someone else's freedom, been shot in return, and fortunately survived POW status as a result – you clearly see the value of spending dollars over having to hold a dying friend's hand as they breathe their last.
How do you balance that congressional checkbook when those digits are written in deaths and lives?

I don't recall, but someone said the fastest way to end a war is to put the politicians on the front lines and then take their votes.

Insurrection in DC by the Left. They “occupied” the US Capitol Cannon Rotunda. Rashida Tlaib, a child of Palestinians, and squad-mate AOC were terrified and terrorized, they had to flee to nearby hotels.

;) ;) 🤡

If it’s not reported as that, then it wasn’t an insurrection, just free speech and the right to assemble and petition Congress.

That may not be so out of the question now. The Revolutionary Guard is now defined as a terrorist organization and they are undoubtedly being financed by and under the control of the Iranian government. Consequently any activity taken after they were defined as a terrorist organization could potentially subject the Iranian government to all sorts of sanctions up to and including seizure of assets.

Stock retort: OH! So you right-wingers just want another war for oil!

Don’t you just hate when you say something smart and intelligent and have it followed, literally, by a parade of clown faces in clown cars?

All of those protesters went through the metal detectors and did not resist mass arrests at their Capitol protest.
They were the very definition of a peaceful protest
The same thing cannot be said of your violent cop-killing J6 MAGA comerades.
They were the very definition of an insurrection mob.

On no planet where words mean things did yesterday protest constitute an "insurrection", no matter how badly you want to describe it as one.

Once again you bring great shame to yourself, your family name, your tribe, the United States Marine Corps and good ole "Sensei K".

$60 bn for Ukraine, $14 bn for Israel, $10 bn for unspecified humanitarian relief, $14 bn for US - Mexico Border, $7 bn for Indo - Pacofic Region

$105 bn spending bill Biden just put forth. I'd like to point out, the US - Mexico portion is not to help stem the tide of illegals, it is to process them faster along with efforts to stop the fentanyl trafficking. The humanitarian relief, although not spelled out, is largely earmarked for the Palestinians. And frankly, I have no idea what the Indo- Pacific money us being used for.

Open spigot on spending. I really want them voting on the as line item appropriations.

That is a standard retort like you say, yet I never remember cheap oil prices or American petroleum companies suddenly owning a bunch of wells after any conflicts we've been involved with over there.

I wish that had happened...
