Israel Vows to 'Intensify' Operations in Rafah​

Israel vowed Thursday to "intensify" its ground offensive in Rafah, in defiance of global warnings over the fate of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians sheltering in Gaza's far-southern city.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said "additional forces will enter" the Rafah area and "this activity will intensify".

"Hundreds of targets have already been struck and our forces are manoeuvring in the area," Gallant said following a troop visit on Wednesday.

Israel's top ally the United States has joined other major powers in appealing for it to hold back from a full ground offensive against Hamas in Rafah, the last city in Gaza so far spared heavy urban fighting.

Hamas is a terror group made up of armed civilians. One dies and another picks up his weapon and continues the fight. It is a religious was.
 
President Biden announced that 17 of the 20 American medical professionals in Gaza had been extracted, the 3 being left behind apparently at their own choice, including Dr. Adam Hamawy who saved the life of Tammy Duckworth (her words) back in Iraq when she lost her legs to traumatic injuries.

More than a dozen American doctors, nurses, and other health care workers went to Gaza as part of a medical mission. The group was scheduled to leave Rafah on Monday so another mission could take over the aid work but were told there was no safe route to exit the besieged strip after Israeli troops seized control of Gaza’s Rafah border crossing last week.

Among the three American doctors who chose Friday to stay in Gaza to continue medical care was Dr. Adam Hamawy, a New Jersey-based plastic surgeon whom Sen. Tammy Duckworth credits with saving her life in Iraq in 2004.

Hamawy told NewsNation on Wednesday that the situation unfolding in Gaza is more horrific than any war he’s ever witnessed.

“This is not a war. This is such a complete eradication of everything,” he said.

No food has reportedly entered the two main border crossings in southern Gaza for the past week, the New York Times reported. It is a region that had been sheltering 1.3 million Palestinians, many of whom have fled since Israel took control of the crossing.
