I be the one cutting class everyday and I was.

LOL!

I'm a combo of you and snowy. I cut a lot of classes, and read when I was supposed to be listening (and not a book I was supposed to be reading, either).

The biggest difference is I was normally close to the front - it helped with the bully problem.

too new to tell

Generally people are nice to me. But I still am getting to know people. So far everyone has been nice. I abstain from voting.

By that i mean, if you are not friends with the "popular" people of the day/week/month, do you feel left out or like your contributions aren't valued as much?

i choose other ...... i don't necessarily feel that my contributions aren't valued as much because i'm not BFF with blah, blah, kitty but i can see how it can seem like it when the established members rally around each other (as friends do) and threads get derailed or ignored because a regular is having some kind of baby daddy drama or what kind of ice cream to eat:rolleyes::D. I don't personally feel there is malicious intent to exclude/ignore others/outsiders/newbies.

I don't understand those threads. I'm not in either one, but that's OK, too. Maybe if I understood the threads better, I'd be upset. Who knows. I've never seen these threads. God, nothing slips past me.

Last year's thread was only for subs so if you were in it, I'd be really surprised.

This year's thread is for both and just getting started. I'm sure you'll be in there by year's end.

The way it is supposed to work is that anyone who feels a post by someone else is really wise, smart, touching, whatever posts that along with "the words of:" and the next date after the one that was last posted.

Quote the post.

Then put in from the thread: _____________.

It's as simple as that.

Wasn't there a smarmy song about a million years ago about "I'm in with the in crowd. I go where the in crowd goes..."

Yes...by Ramsey Lewis. It's his signature song, in fact.

I found the lyrics. How smarmy!

I'm in with the "in" crowd
I go where the "in" crowd goes
I'm in with the "in" crowd
And I know what the "in" crowd knows
Any time of the year don't you hear (gotta have fun)
Dressin' fine makin' time
We breeze up and down the streets
We get respect from the people we meet
They make way day or night
They know the "in" crowd is outta sight!
I'm in with the "in" crowd
I know every latest dance
When you're in with the "in" crowd
It's easy to find romance
At a spot where the beat's really hot (there we'll go)
If it's square we ain't there
We make every minute count, yeah
Our share is always the biggest amount
Other guys imitate us
But the original's still the greatest
Got our own way of walkin' yeah
And our own way of talkin' yeah
Anytime of the year don't you hear (gotta have fun)
Spendin' cash and talkin' trash
Girl I'll show you a real good time yeah
Come on with me and leave your troubles behind
I don't care where you've been
You ain't been nowhere 'til you been in
With the "in" crowd oh yeah
With the "in" crowd
Got our own way of walkin'
And our own way of talkin' yeah
Walkin' with the "in" crowd
Talkin' 'bout the "in" crowd
Mmmmmmm
...and I go where the "in" crowd goes
Mmmmmmm
...and I know what the "in" crowd knows

No offense to those who like the threads, but depending on who you talk to, pretty much any post could be really wise, smart or touching, etc. to somebody. And these go for the whole year? I'm sure I'll be in there, sometime...along with most everybody else, I'd think.

Maybe I'm just being contrary. I do that, from time to time.

OK, gotta get the trash out before "the man" comes for it. See ya'll later.

Coming out of lurkdom here to say no, I don't find these forums to be at all cliquey. I've not been here that long, and it takes a long time for me to be comfortable anywhere. But whenever I have posted (or commented) I've always recieved very polite responses and thoughtful answers. There are boards (not just on Lit) that are a million times worse.

Exactly so. More people should put those posts that touch them on the thread. If they did, we'd never be behind and we might even finish one!

LOL!

I'm so glad you've that things to be so positive!

BTW, about the calendars and cliques, I've made a conscious effort to include as many as I can find good quotes for on the calendar. Have I managed to include everyone? Probably not but I'm only one person and a very busy, flawed person at that.

Yeah, same here. I miss A LOT of posts, just cause it doesn't always occur to me to put it in the calender. Sometimes I just think 'oh good post' and then move to the next. Or I get so involved in the conversation, that I've forgotten that one, good, post.

Maybe the flawed FF needs a good spanking. Nothing better than a good spanking to correct that flaw.

Well, at least it's worth a try.:D

And, if at first you don't succeed...try, try, again.:D:D:D

I was a good kid. Hall moniter, then a prefect, then a head boy, with more flair than Percy Weasley ever had in his wettest dreams. Being's how I was big and had no patience with bullies, things calmed down a bit for a while in the bully department. I might've let a few of my mates get away with murder though.

So Miss Gracie, what did you do when the hall moniter caught you cutting class? *leers hopefully*

I only got caught once - security guard. He asked if I was skipping. I said yes. He said 'don't get caught' and left. Of course he was old and balding, if it'd ben you . . . well *flutters lashes*
