Cliche Reversals

Even if some of the ones that come to mind have been tried before, I doubt that they are anywhere as prolific as the cliches themselves....more can be done to completely invert cliche plot devices....

I will start out with the cliche of the mom catching her son jacking off and wanting to fuck him right away.

Followed by the ever popular white (usually blonde) wife fucking around on white hubby with the black guy who has a large cock....sometimes resulting in cuckold themes, creampies, and/or bisexuality (as a bi guy, I find the implication that you can BECOME bi rather offensive myself, not to mention the suggestion that we are all a bunch of cuckolds with small dicks who like to watch, jerk off, and eat creampies....grrr...)

How can we reverse these two?

With mom/son, I imagine that the most obvious are: daddy catches daughter touching herself and wants her; son catches mom and wants her; dad catches son; mother catches daughter; daughter catches mom; daughter catches dad; son catches dad....just to name a few....or we can make the mom more typical of a lot of moms and repulsed by it....she angrily confronts son or daughter and it leads to a fight that results in sex....

I think there's a lot of merit to taking so many of the stereotypes ( schoolgirl and Teacher, babysitter and Father, etc ) and spinning them differently. It's a win-win; you get to enjoy the cliche ( there's a reason it's a cliche, of course... it's such a hot idea ) and also as a writer develop yourself a bit by spinning it differently. As a reader, you get something probably new.

I'm also a fan of the idea of taking those cliche scenes and using different settings to make them fresh; ancient Polynesia where mom catches the son masturbating. A sculpted virtual reality where the naughty blond wife experiments with black cock.

Leo DiCaprio as Romeo, Korn remaking "Word Up", and so on are works done in this spirit.

I think you are really onto something here. I watch the Sleuth Channel alot, and awhile back they did a thing on the 20 Most Popular TV Sleuths. As they did their count-down they interviewed the writers of these TV WhoDunIts and the writer of Rockford Files got my attention.

He said that in creating his character (James Garner) cast as a Private Investigator, he took the cliches and sterotype and did the exact opposite. His character could not fight, his character had a reluctant cop that helped him out on his cases, he had an answering machine instead of a sexy secretery, he had a nasty old trailer instead of an office...that sort of thing.

Myself I get kind of tired of the big breasted, tall and slender characters in some LIT stories who are part-time escorts to make a little extra cash for college....yada, yada, yada. I think we all know the story types.
