Clear Blue Ice

on the radio on the way to work, the natural resources guy was explaining that clear blue ice is the safest. At the long red traffic light, I thought :

" It was cold in that little old fishing hut. sally and I had to huddle together for warmth after our snowmobile went through the ice.

" I told you to look for clear blue ice," sally said."

I think this needs a lighter hand than mine... any takers?

Who is Sally? wife? gf? family member? buddy's wife or gf? acquaintance? coworker? what happens next?

Clear ice is the safest because you mostlikely do not have any defects due to snow or running water. Just because it is clear does not mean it is safe. Clear ice can be very thin as well.

Clear ice of about 2" is plenty strong to hold up a human and just over 1/2" is plenty for a snowmobile in movement. In fact a snowmobile moving at 35 mph don't need any ice it does quite well on just water.

When you hear of a sled going through the ice it is generally going at speeds less than 30mph and it is snow covered ice. The snow melts the ice like a blanket it allows the warmer waters from below to erode from the underside while not letting the cold air freeze from the top.

If and when a person falls through the ice within minutes/seconds hyperthermia hits. A little fishing love shack is not going to save this persons life. It may prolong the time that is needed to recieve medical attention. That is all, as far as being in an erotic mood that is more likely to happen with a frozen Ice age person whom you melted the block of ice. And as in Scooby doo they come back to life.


My thoughts would be more that she fell through and only getting the bottom of her pants wet and boots she is stranded in an ice house. Removing her bottoms and long johns to allow them to dry faster. As it is too far away to drive back to get a change of clothing.

Maybe she stepped in a fishing hole?

The man looks out his window upon the clear blue ice of the lake. As the wind blows he can see the streams of light snow dusting across the shimmer of the morning sun light reflecting off the Ice.

He watches from the comfort of his home as the fire roars to keep the house warm. Seeing a figure walking about on a trek across the ice in the distance. The intense sun rays shadow the figure along whith his fishing shack. Marking them as black shapes out on the icey field.

Not aware of who is bundled in the oversize clothing. He watches intently as that person closes in on the location of the fishing hut. Just watching as it is not unusual to see a passerby.

Then as the blood soars through his veins he see this figure of blackness open the door and enter. With uneasy thoughts the man rushes to get dressed. Taking his riffle in hand he jumps upon the snowmobile. With a thunderous roar he rides out of the garage and quickly races to the small shack.

The clack of the ski runners smack across the hardend ice. Making it difficult to steer. Comming close he shuts down the engine and steps off moving to the door. Flinging the door so that it slams the outer part of the hut. He points the riffle into the area in a hysterical moment of anxiety only to be shocked by what he sees.


Just a little thought not very good but it is a little something I think?

Information not just for BT:
For the most part, any ideas being broadcast on this forum are always up for grabs. Sometimes a person will state they are looking for original ideas for a story they intend to write. In that case it is polite to ask.

To be honest most of the time when I share an idea here. It is because I would like for another author to maybe be inspired to write on the topic.

In my case, I would gladly let another do a story on the same topic and ideas as well. Even if I intended to use those ideas my self. As no one can possibly write a story exactly like mine anyhow. Good chance I would like to read a different version if I am interested enough to write about it.
