Boring alert!!

Every time I clean mine get smears... doesn't matter if I buy a special spray and clean with a lint-free cloth and polist with a dry cloth as suggested.... once you clean the screen, you are stuffed.

Any tips or suggestions for a shiny screen without smears folks?

my understanding is that a water-dampened cloth or paper towel ought to do the trick. it does however need to be squeezed quite dry, i find. have you already tried that also?

I haven't.... as I am too scared of scratching the screen....

But you have found it works?

If so... I will gve it a try....

Thank you.. :)

like i said, it's gotta be squeezed pretty dry, so of course you want to be careful not to leave water marks. let me know if that helps.

Don't use babywipes. I tried that, thinking it would be ok and gentle on the screen. It left soap streaks on the screen. Looked worse than when I started. It still has areas where you can tell I wiped it.
I am going to try the paper towel tip as I haven't found anything that works either.

According to PCWorld, you can make a cleaner of 50% water and 50% isopropyl alcohol. It should be applied with a "nearly dry" soft, lint-free cloth, not a paper towel.

I've also read that plain water works just as well.

So far, I've only used a feather duster on mine.

Yep.. I realise babywipes are a no-no... I assume it was a joke.

yep.. I have a spray from PC world.. still leaves streaks...

Everything CLEANS.... but it's getting rid of the streaks and not scratching the screen that's the problem.

The paper towel and water left streaks too.... maybe I was too worried about scratching.

How about don't shoot cum on it in the first place? :D

Seriously, though...I've never had a problem with one of the screen cleaner spray products and a paper towel. The spray that I use is anti-static, too, which could make a difference, I suppose. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what it is, or I'd have to kill you...er..no....because it's industrial use only stuff, that you can't buy in a store, anywhere. Which may also be why it works better.......

For the record, the PCWorld I mentioned is the magazine, not a store.

Actually if you go with this method, try doing this:

1) Take a paper towel (even a tissue is okay), fold it in fourths, and a water bottle and just bot either one end of the middle of it with a little water. Just hold the opening of the bottle to the paper, tip it so it leaves a nice circle of water on there. Wipe down your screen slowly, in the same direction. Either a up down motion or side to side.

2) Take a dry towel and wipe it down the same way you did before with the damp towel. Up down motion or side to side.

To assure that you don't get streaks or nothing is left behind, apply your screensaver to blank, so it's just a black screen when it goes to it, so you can see if it's leaving streaks or dust or anything you want to clean off.

I hope that helped.

Iris_Black's advice is right on. The only thing that I would add that I have found from experience (having 4 very expensive Viewsonic VG191's) is that a soft cotton cloth is much better than a paper towel... which is of course just processed wood. A tissue would be better than a paper towel for sure but over time has a chance of leaving small microscratchs. I simply use baby diapers (same thing I use to polish my car) Of couse never press hard... always a light touch.

Thank you :)

I will certainly try that... will borrow a diaper from my friend, as sadly my wife and I have no kids..... if it works I can start some tongues wagging buying some! ;)

np bro.... remember that they are really good for the car as well (if you have a car to polish).... at 57, I get all kinds of looks at Fred Meyer's (part of the Kroger chain) when I buy like 4 10 packs of the cloth cotton diapers in the baby department. Even had a real young sales clerk tell me it was cheaper and less messy to use disposable diapers.... I just laughed, told her the plastic scratch's the paint, and kept moving....
