Fiona laughed as the two of them took off to reunite with Invah. She turned to look at Kesh as he watched them with a peaceful expression.

"And just where did my Da get off to today?" She asked the drake, wondering where Owen had gone to that morning.

Kesh rumbled in response, lazy as could be and enjoying the sun and just Fiona's company. He was on the verge of dozing off again, and eventually his head rested beside her thigh.

"I'm sure he insisted that you be lazy today." Fiona said as she relaxed into the crook of Kesh's body, letting the sun warm her as well. "We'll go find him after a nap. I think I've earned one."

Kesh let out a huge yawn and curled his tail a little tighter around them both before drifting off. With the sun and the breeze, he was perfectly content. Spring was probably the favorite time of year for most animals, but drakes knew it as the start to months of warmth with no need for constant shelter.

Fiona slept soundly in Kesh's embrace. The sun warmed her skin and she finally relaxed after so many weeks of intense training. It had been hard to relax without Sam there, holding her and talking about the small little things that had happened in their day. He calmed her and she was incredibly happy to be with him. She worried that she didn't show him that enough.

By the time Fiona was awoken by a kiss pressed to her cheek, she was laying down in the grass and Kesh was a ways off. The sun was high in the sky and the breeze had grown even lighter. Kesh had slipped away without disturbing her, and now Sam was kneeling beside her, his broad hands resting on her arms as he leaned down.

"Hey, love," he murmured.

Fiona woke with a start at the kiss to her cheek, only relaxing when she heard Sam's deep voice rumbling. She lifted her head to look for Kesh, seeing him some distance away digging in the tall grass. She hadn't even noticed when he had left. Perhaps she was more tired than she though.

"I don't even know how long I've been asleep." Fiona murmured, lifting a hand to rub at the sleep in her eyes.

"Doesn' matter." Sam settled beside her. "I saw Kesh a ways off an' found you two nappin' like cats in the sun. But you deserve a lazy day."

"I was making a new gown. Just in case a certain prince wants to invite me to Malmo." Fiona said as Sam settled in next to her. "But only if he wants me to go with him. If not, I'll have at least one beautiful gown in my closet for another event."

"I thought the invitation was already inferred," Sam chuckled. "O' course I want you to come. Some friends might tease me for it... But I wouldn't mind 'avin' a beautiful lass t'escort an' dance with."

"I don't dance, Sam. But I wouldn't mind being on your arm for a lovely evening. I've missed you these past few weeks." She turned her head and kissed him, sighing as she melted against him. "I'm sorry this training has taken me away so much."

"Don't apologize. I'm proud o' you. Yer givin' yer all to somethin' you believe in." Sam draped an arm around her and returned her kiss with a little grin. He was in an especially good mood that day.

"You'll start to think I'm neglecting you." Fiona said with a sigh as Sam drew her against him. "What has you so happy today? I haven't seen you smile this much in forever."

"I can't just be content?" Sam asked with a chuckle. "Things're goin' right in my world. An' I don' need t'keep tha' serious attitude goin' constantly."

"I just wonder what goes on in that brain of yours, Samuel." Fiona said as she snuggled up against his side and let out a long sigh, her eyes closing in contentment as her lover held her tightly. "You can't blame a girl for trying to figure out how to make her man happy, can you?"

"I am incredibly easy t'please. Yer doin' jus' fine right now." Sam felt like pestering her a little. So once she got comfortable, he ruined it by trapping her on her back, his hands lightly holding her wrists as he grinned down at her. It was as if the serious General had given way to the lively man Sam would've been if not for the dark turn his younger days had taken.

Fiona laughed as Sam suddenly trapped her on her back, grinning down at her with that handsome smile. He made her love him and want to care for him. Quite simply she wanted to be a better person when she was with him.

"You are playing a dangerous game, Sam." Fiona murmured.

"Tha's the idea," Sam told her with a smirk, leaning down to press a kiss to her sensitive neck. "I like t' play with fire."

"Sam." Fiona gasped as he leaned in and kissed along her sensitive throat, her head tilting back to give him more access. "Love, someone might come along and see us here."

"Mhm," he hummed, not relenting in his assault on her skin in the slightest as he kept both her hands pinned with one of his own. The free hand came to hook behind her knee and draw her leg up around his waist.

Fiona cooed as Sam took her wrists in his large hand and reached down to wrap her leg around his hips. He didn't care if anyone saw them like that. It seemed that Samuel Ghis was ready to mark his territory for anyone that might stumble upon them. The idea thrilled her fox immensely and she moved her head to nuzzle against his own throat, grinning at the soft growls that were leaving him.

It seemed Sam really was going to enjoy himself right there, until he suddenly let her go and whispered against her ear, "Run." Chasing was one of the pillars of their relationship, and he wanted to enjoy it again.

Her blue eyes practically glowed as Sam whispered that she needed to run and then released her. She laughed softly as she pushed herself to her feet and took off running across the tall grass, headed towards the thick woods that bordered the town beyond. It only took her a few moments to reach the woods, but she could hear him behind her and her heart raced with the secret thrill of everything.

Sam and Fiona had a similar ability where speed was concerned, as she had seen on several occasions when he was actually out to catch her as fast as possible, and both had an innate understanding of how to move in the woods as efficiently as possible. Even if it was an unfamiliar forest, Sam could vault fallen longs and roots without losing speed just like her. His strength lay in just that- strength.

Fiona glanced over her shoulder every so often as they wound their way through the trees, chasing one another like they had once done before. She grinned, panting as she skirted around trees, vaulted over logs, and stayed one step ahead of her lover. She loved him immensely and she hoped that he knew that. She would spend the rest of her days showing him just how much love she had left to give.
