"And she loved you, Uka." Fiona said with a smile, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I'll show you everything there is to see in Scotland. You'll fall in love."

"Not too in love, I hope, or I might be tempted to give up my position here," Oleg murmured with a smile. "I would like to meet this Suara Corel, though. I had heard of her years back. And I know from Sam that a relative of Suara's is Prince Rhodan's mate, and an Erygonian Lion is apparently his cousin's mate as well, not to mention all the Lunars also related to them. You picked quite the family to be involved with."

"Sam makes me happy. No matter what the rest of the family does, I would stay for him." Fiona admitted as her grandfather commented on the family she had chosen. "I have hopes for a very bright future at his side."

"Sam seems the sort that will see his love happy to the end of his days. I may not have known him long... But I feel I can trust him to treat you well."

"As long as I don't try to ruin things." Fiona murmured as her grandfather swore that he could see a bright future for them both.

"I have faith in you, little kit. You know what you stand to lose, and you know Sam loves you," he assured her.

"I know." Fiona murmured as she rested her head against her grandfather's shoulder. "Da loved Ma. More than anything. I know that you thought that it was bad and it didn't end the way that anyone wanted, but they did love each other. He made her a beautiful gift for the fire."

"I saw. And no matter what happened... I'm glad Tatiana knew love in her life. Everyone deserves to have love at least once." Oleg kissed her forehead. "Your grandmother and I made gifts for our ancestors and your mother, and one more to ask them to watch over Ericka with her new kit when it comes along, and to help Hanni get well."

"What's wrong with Hanni?" Fiona asked softly, knowing that her uncle worried about his mate even if he acted as jovial as he possibly could for the sake of everyone else and his kits.

"She has always been a little frailer than most. She and Juno fit so perfectly because he is her physical strength and her protection, while she is the same to him emotionally. He was once even quieter than Yul, and deadly serious and closed off from the world. Hanni came along and opened him up while he protected her. But when she fell ill last year from some unknown sickness, it took a huge toll on Juno. And, by proxy, his kits too. We still don't know what's wrong exactly, but her health has been holding recently, so we have high hopes that our healing elder can help her live a long life. And we hope by asking those gone before us for help, they will keep her from going too soon. It would absolutely crush Juno into oblivion if he lost her. I fear their kits will lose both parents if that happens."

"They're a lovely little family." Fiona said as her grandfather told her the story of Juno and Hanni. "And if she does get worse, perhaps we can ask Sam to contact his aunt. She is one of the best healers in all of Scotland."

"We've certainly tried everything in our power... We've just never had the coin to bring a more educated doctor here. I don't think we could afford to bring her," Oleg murmured. "Chartering a ship just costs too much, and Juno is too proud not to try to pay it all back even if he does accept help."

"You let the both of us worry about that, Uka." Fiona said, giving him a soft smile. "You'll never worry about anything again as long as I'm around. I'll see to that personally."

"Even a lovely kit like you can't assuage all my worries, my love," Oleg chuckled and hugged her closer. "I will always worry about everything and everyone. At the very least, I'll be worrying about how to keep you all smiling."

"Now that is difficult. Especially for Uncle Yul." Fiona said with a laugh as her grandfather held her a little tighter. "He's too serious for his own good, it seems."

"He is. But he's not unhappy. He's passionate about his work, and he's saving his own money to apprentice under a carpenter in Malmo. There isn't much that makes Yul smile, but the sight of a beautiful piece of carving or fine tools certainly do. That, and a particularly interesting Wolf who came here from Stockholm a year back. But Yul does his best to ignore any attraction."

"Uncle Rhett seems smitten with his wolf." Fiona said as Oleg mentioned wolves. "He lights up when she comes by. I think come spring, the two of them might turn into something more. That would do mormor a world of good to see. I know she worries about him."

"Anya doesn't know yet... but Orla and Rhett have been together for quite some time. Anya thinks Orla's new to Rhett's life. They're not mated yet, but it's only a matter of time."

"Well, I suppose having the head elder's blessing is as good as it gets." She chuckled, thinking about how happy her uncle seemed when he was around Orla. "Mormor will be very happy and if I know Uncle Rhett, he'll still be around to care for the both of you."

"He's far too responsible for his own good, and he ought to go and live his own life. But I think there's a part of him that's still afraid to leave when he can't speak for himself. He always has been afraid, ever since he lost the ability to speak at all."

"He'll be alright." Fiona assured her grandfather, kissing his cheek as he spoke about Rhett and his fear of not being able to communicate. "He has an abundance of love for everyone. You might want him to explore and live his life, but he's happy with what he is doing now. Even if he and Orla do officially mate, he'll be right here where he's happy and comfortable."

"How did you get to be so wise, little kit?" Oleg asked with a chuckle, meeting her gaze with a warm smile.

"If you'd like, you can join in the start of the ceremony tomorrow, and dedicate a part of the first gift to him. It's a sort of totem carved for this Solstice specifically. Everyone carves their family names into it in memory of their ancestors. Ephriam would be included with the Blackstone name, whereas my and Tatiana's side in Erygonian is called Yarankiyl."

"I'd like that. I think Da would too." Fiona said as Oleg offered her something so special. "Thank you for letting me include him."
